They are there but half muted. I love Islay scotch, so I’m always looking for a scotch ale that will reach up out of the glass a punch me with smokey, peaty, scorched earth flavors. Not this one. Brew is lightly sweet, also. Some caramel and nuts. All malt. Full, smooth palate. A nice after dinner drink. Solid, but not aggressive enough on the scotch part for my taste. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | May 20, 2006 Bomber bottle. Poured dark brown with an average off-white frothy head that diminished slowly. Moderate nutty sour citrus aroma. Medium body with sticky texture. Balanced medium sweet sour flavor with a medium duration finish. Stronger citrus flavor than I expected. trokini (1027), San Diego, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 15/20 | May 1, 2006 The label does not lie, this beer is a meal. Clear brown pour with minimal tan head. Aroma of caramel, malt, and some nuts. Lots of earthy, peat-like flavor, as if the beer was finished in a scotch barrel. The caramel and nuttiness there throughout compliment it nicely. A really good beer, especially if you don’t plan on doing anything afterward. burpfrank (292), carpinteria, California, USA

| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Apr 22, 2006 Dark amber body, moderate head. Nuts, caramel and molasses. Flavor has these notes but doesn’t feel like a Scotch ale. Actually, I don’t know what this feels like. Whatever.. ehhdayton (1115), USA
