Decent dark brown without much head; average looking scotch ale, in my opinion. Malt and roast with some peat aspects to it. Slight toast/nut aroma as well. Very full flavor. Wow, even though this beer isn’t really creamy it carries a very nice nuanced profile of flavors. That peat is very noticeable in the taste, and then I get this underlying smoke/roast flavor. Slight sweet malt flavor(s) as well. This is a very interesting flavor for a Scotch ale. There is this odd dried dark fruit flavor as well. Just a very different maybe even odd flavor to me. I appreciate the complexity of the beer in terms of taste and aroma, but the flavor is not really to my liking. ben4321 (1021), Rockville, Maryland, USA

Aroma: Caramel malts, scotch, pete, earth, pine, bit of dried fruit
Appearance: Bright red, slight orange
Flavor: Like the nose, but sweeter, some bread, not balanced, but a nice sweet malty flavor
Palate: Medium body, smooth, bit of alcohol
Overall Impression:
I think this is a pretty solid beer, nice nose, nice smooth and sweet malty flavor. An enjoyable beer that just works well.

Heavy and sweet malts on the nose. Some straight butter as well. Spiced smell too. Taste is not what I expected. Blandly bitter that tastes somehow old. Woody by all virtues with the slightest feel of alcohol. Not bad but not what I was expecting for the style.
