Pours cloudy brown, almost no aroma, flavor is mild, mostly malty with some hops, not that great. Started this cold and let it warm up will little results.

bottle, thanks to swalden28, clear almond colored pour, faint caramel aromas, flavors of sweet caramel and a slight whiskey and roast malt flavor on the finish

22 oz. at Macs on West Peachtree Street. Not a very vsicous-like pour. Decent dark brown without much head; average looking scotch ale, in my opinion. Malt and roast with some peat aspects to it. Slight toast/nut aroma as well. Very full flavor. Wow, even though this beer isn’t really creamy it carries a very nice nuanced profile of flavors. That peat is very noticeable in the taste, and then I get this underlying smoke/roast flavor. Slight sweet malt flavor(s) as well. This is a very interesting flavor for a Scotch ale. There is this odd dried dark fruit flavor as well. Just a very different maybe even odd flavor to me. I appreciate the complexity of the beer in terms of taste and aroma, but the flavor is not really to my liking.

Location: 22 oz bottle from Gilly’s, 9/10/09

Aroma: Caramel malts, scotch, pete, earth, pine, bit of dried fruit
Appearance: Bright red, slight orange
Flavor: Like the nose, but sweeter, some bread, not balanced, but a nice sweet malty flavor
Palate: Medium body, smooth, bit of alcohol
Overall Impression: I think this is a pretty solid beer, nice nose, nice smooth and sweet malty flavor. An enjoyable beer that just works well.

( 22oz bottle, courtesy of Swalden28 ) Pours a lightly hazy deep amber with small off-white head. Aroma of smoke/peat, wood, leather, and caramel. Flavor of caramel, peat, light cocoa, grass, and roasted malt.

Bottle from Kegs & Barrels in Plano, TX. Pours a nice looking amber/red with a beige head. Aroma of light caramel and a little spice. Flavor is exactly the same with a little faint sweetness. Mouth feel is light-medium body with low-medium carbonation. Overall, not bad at all!

Bottle courtesy of Swalden28. Clear gold orange pour. Interesting aroma. Heavy and sweet malts on the nose. Some straight butter as well. Spiced smell too. Taste is not what I expected. Blandly bitter that tastes somehow old. Woody by all virtues with the slightest feel of alcohol. Not bad but not what I was expecting for the style.
