Aroma is bitter as hell with some honey and malt in the background. Flavor, man this is bitter. But just as the bitterness starts to bite there is a slight rescue from a decent malt bill...then the hops bite back at the end. Hoptastic. cprochak (442), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 10/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Bottle from Bottleworks. You can smell the bitternes as soon as it hits the bottle. Nice head and strong hops, but a very long carbonated finish. polomagnifico (535), Saginaw, Michigan, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 1, 2009 Bottle thanks again to MrChopin! Aroma has notes of caramel, citrus, resin. Murky medium orange amber hue with an average sized off-white head that diminished and left great lace. Flavor has sweet and really bitter notes. Palate is full bodied and oily soft. A tastey brew with nice spice and resin bitterness. BoozieSusie (15), California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Feb 27, 2009 Very bitter with a nice bite. Strong grapefruit comes along with the hops, but not much aroma. 3Faveryrogue (113), Aslip, Illinois, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Feb 25, 2009 Honey amber pour. Toasty white head. Smells malty, sweet, with a hint of pine-i-ness, but dominant fruit and floral on the nose. Mouth is nice feel, very balanced, and great carbonation. Taste is average for style, no need to rant. Came off a little weak @ first but hops become very earthy, lingering, and almost seep into the tongue. Highly drinkable hop bomb, though $8 a 22 will probably make this a 1 time buy. mcmd (147), Louisville, Kentucky, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 24, 2009 Pours an almost clear orange amber with a small white head which thins to a film. Aroma is strong pine and citrus hops. Flavor is initially honey sweet malt which quickly turns to a resin piney and grapefruit hop bitterness which bruises and never leaves the tongue - gotta be lots of simcoe here. A little too much bitterness for me, almost like a crushed up pill in the finish. satan165 (612), River Grove, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 19/20 | Feb 22, 2009 Updated: Feb 23, 2009aroma of citrus and specifically wilamette hops (and its not often i attempt to guess hop varieties). appearance is nearly burnt orange. flavor is of intense citrus, darkened by the willamette counterpoint. palate is middle of the road. overall this is an underrated IIPA, good malt prescence and overall balance, and excellent hop load make this very enjoyable! tennisjoel (951), Shakopee, Minnesota, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 21, 2009 22 oz bomber. Body is a hazy orange with a thin ring of white head. A nice bitterness plays out here as I don’t condider this to be on the sweet side. Pine, grapefruit, and citrus hops are present, as well as a small malt presence. I also get a hint of tea flavor. Good beer for sure.
