Aroma of piney and citrus hops, notes of caramel and slight sweetness. Taste opens up with a very faint burst of sweetness which then proceeds to become swallowed by an agressive hop bitterness backbone. Very dry overall, especially in finish. Big green/resiny hoppy nose with distinct malt presence. Flavour follows suit. Solid body, decent bitter finish. Alcohol is not too apparent. Very good. jerc (3954), Toronto, Ontario, Canada

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 28, 2009 Bottle. Piney, resinous hop aroma. Nice looking beer. Copper and a little cloudy. Head is thick, creamy and long-lasting. Lots of lace. Very malty and hoppy taste. Malt has a caramel taste. Hops are very resinous and piney with some grapefruit notes. The 8.5% alcohol is masked very well. I thought it was very similar in taste to Phillips Amnesiac. Nice Double IPA. andersand (384), Malmö, Sweden
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2009 Amber coloured with a small sticky off-white head. Aroma is the usuall suspect of american piney hops and sticky caramell. Flavour is similar but more full and delivers a rather nice floral and perfumey hop flavour that melds nicely with the sticky and almost chewy caramell. Ends rather bitter with a small lingering caramell sweetness. Straight forward but tasty. DeadGirl (243), West Palm Beach, Florida, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 22, 2009 Pours hazy orange from the 22oz. bottle in a pint glass with a piece of my dead dog’s hair floating around inside the glass (nasty...but I’m not about to throw any beer away): Nose is caramel malted, resiny hops, earthy/grassy (earassy), and honey. Citrus orange peels in the taste, pine cones, juniper, and maybe some bark. Drinkability: Ultra hopped. Ultra Legend... wait for it and I hope you’re not lactose intolerant because the second part of that word is Dary. Legendary. Rebuy: Yes. #212 on 22112009, DG. Cybercat (816), Georgia, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Comes out of the bottle a slightly hazy dark amber with a fairly thick and frothy white head. Aroma is strongly hoppy and has a hint of lemon. Flavor is strong and quite hoppy, just a little bitter, very satisfying to an IPA lover like me. Texture is fairly smooth and just a little tingly. Worthy of a try, at the very least. tmoreau (597), Lombard, Illinois, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 17, 2009 Shared bomber and poured in proper fashion to a snifter. The color was a deep, orangy amber, with a foamy, off white head, and clingy ribbons of lacing. The aroma was heavy citrus intertwined with heavy pine notes, and tempered by big malt. The flavor added to these a strong but firm hop bitterness and warming alcohol, flowing to a bitter, almost astringent, and dry finish. Extremely potent,...enough said!
