Aroma has tons of pine and lots of citric hops. Nice and smooth, quite bitter, with just enough malt. Tons of grapefruit, a little bit of grass. Good stuff. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 30, 2008 Bottled. Very nice looking beer: clear amber/orange colour with a medium off-white head and a film of lacing. Fresh, clean aroma of citrus hops and perfume. There’s the resin, in the flavour. Very well balanced where there is no overpowering bitterness or clinging tastes. Skyview (4063), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 30, 2008 Sampled at Heritage Liquors Inauguration beer tasting in Maplewood, Minnesota. A 22-oz bomber, shared by STLWill pours a semi-hazy copper amber brew with a fast dissolving off-white head that dissipates to a fine film and ring. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus zest, white pine sap, a touch of green vegetables, and some powdery/chalky caramel malt, Taste is vegetable bitter, light carbonation with flavors of grapefruit and citrus zest, a touch of pineapple, some grassy hop texture with a touch of pepper. Finish is mildly bitter, some citrus zest that overpowers any malted grain aftertaste but definitely a double IPA personality. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 30, 2008 A little unsure whether it was BDR or STLWill (or both) that brought this... Copper color with no head. Dry grain and grassy aroma. Lots of hops and bitterness in the taste, but far more grass and vegetal hops than the citrus and pine that I’m reading from everyone else. Certainly not bad at all, just not the ’usual’ west coast IIPA hop bomb. Viper666 (625), Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | May 20, 2008 Bouteille 650ml, courtoisie de Hogtownharry.
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | May 20, 2008 Bottled from BevMo. Clear light amber with developing carbonation capped off with sticky white lacing and head. Pine sap aroma of hop oils, orange rind and a boatload of grapefruit. Flavor seems somewhat one-dimensional for a beer of this magnitude, but really good nevertheless. Mostly grapefruit citrus tones with a strong buttery crystal malt base. Ends with powerful alcohol on the palate and medium-lasting bitterness. I think I like Hopsickle more than this. Beerman6686 (1292), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | May 15, 2008 Poured a hazy orange color with and off white head. Aroma was very hoppy but not enough to smell from far away. Flavor is very bitter but not very well balanced by the malts. Not quite as good as the hopsicle.
