Nose is piney with a big sweet malt. Taste actually starts with big sweet malt followed by a blast of pine then huge citrus rind hops. Lingering bitter hops but a minor balance of malt. Creamy in the mouth with decent carbonation. Drinkable for the ABV, the bitterness is the only thing holding this back from being sessionable but do we really want our DIPA to be a session beer?

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Dec 21, 2007 Very clear amber with a loose but sticky head. Excellent aroma combining spicy, citrus and piny hops. Big thick hop flavor blended with toasted and light caramel malts. The bitterness is high, deep, long and lingering but not harsh. Good stuff. urbnhautebourg (974), Annapolis, Maryland, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Dec 17, 2007 I found that the piney elements of the hops predominate in this beer, rather than the citric ones. For such a big hoppy beer, I found this remarkable in its balance. I won’t say that this makes it any better than any other hop bomb, but it is rather remarkable and makes me feel that I am drinking a very solid, well-constructed beer. A pleasure, without a doubt, but not as inspiring as I would imagine, given its reputation. glennmastrange (868), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Dec 15, 2007 Bottle. Moderate to heavy malt aromas of cereal and caramel, hops of pine, resin and grapefruit, light yeast notes of broth and peat, with pepper and an undescribable fruity/spiciness in the background. Head is creamy/frothy, white, with good lacing, and is mostly lasting. Color is hazy amber/orange with a thick amount of tiny particles. Flavor is moderately sweet and lightly acidic to start, then finishes lightly sweet, moderately acidic and bitter, and a touch salty. Palate is perfect with a medium body, an oily texture and a carbonation between soft and lively. This beer has a perfect balance of malt and hops. Well done Moylans. | 4.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 14, 2007 Bottle courtesy of Dukefan. Thanks, Tim for the sample. Fresh, wonderful hop aroma. Slighly hazy reddish amber. with a slightly off-white head. Large, dishwater bubble head. Outstanding brew with peppery hops. I could have sworn I had this at the Bistro’s Double IPA fest a couple of years ago, but alas didn’t have a rating for it. I love this brew and need to get it again. mkobes (2104), paramus, New Jersey, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 5, 2007 pour is amber with small white head, nice lacing.
smell is small on the grapefruit, fresh, citrus, hops.
taste is citrus, then the grapefruit sneaks up on you and BAM!! hits you right in the taste buds, like a good chili pepper you pop it in your mouth and it gets stronger and stronger as time on bye, little bit woody sitting in the back waving, ends wonderfully bitter with a excellent taste, the bitterness does not overpower the taste at all.
overall this is a really nice brew, some sweetness in there but i cant put my finger on where it is . Illini08 (528), Raleigh, North Carolina, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Dec 4, 2007 22oz bomber. Drank in a very smoky environment, but still a very tasty IIPA. Deep orange pour with a small white head, lots of lacing though. Hops dominate the nose and palate. Not a very well balanced IIPA, but when you’re in the mood for a hop-bomb, this would be a good beer to go to.
