I expected a very hoppy brew but the double IPA was suprisingly very smooth with a sweet aroma. Pour was light brown, another suprise with a very nice head on it. A very very nice craft beer. asteele8 (270), Mukilteo, Washington, USA

Pours an amber color with a nice creamy white head on top that is leaving decent lacing. Aroma is citrus, oranges, grapefruit, and resin. Flavor is full of hops with grapefruit causing a big pucker of the lips at the very first hit of the beer on the tongue. Hops dominate this beer mostly but hints of caramel malt do come in giving the beer a fruit sweetness. On the palate it feels as a IIPA should with a nice sticky lingering aftertaste of mangos, grapefruit, and resin creating a long bitterness. An excellent IIPA! | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 2, 2007 22 oz. bottle - pours amber and slightly hazy; head rises 1/2 inch and lingers with scattered lacing; strong aromas with the hops more dominate than the citrus; surprisingly smooth, yet hops not as bold as i expected, especially for a DIPA; not quite up to par with a few others i’ve recently tried bhensonb (4360), Woodland, California, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Feb 26, 2007 Huge piny aroma. Slightly hazy amber color with that ferocious real ale head. The head tends to lace. Very smooth and decent mouthfeel. The resin immediately kicks in. There’s malt, and I suppose the hops would be too much without it. Still, this is hops all the way. The finish is a bit, very small bit floral, and the finish is hop jumping all over the malt. Really good. As time goes on, I see why mango has been mentioned. This stuff only improves as the temperature rises! elnadeau (786), Laguna Niguel, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 26, 2007 A brown amber pour, nicely proportioned head, sweet crystal malt and piney hop resin aroma. Citrus floral hops are forward, malt backbone is fruity sweet and well balanced. A nice clean bitter finish makes for an enjoyable experience. A very good example of the style. Doctormirk (100), USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Feb 11, 2007 Dark amber color, hazy. Smells a bit like a fresh Christmas tree. Tastes of candied malts and apples. Hoppy and surprisingly roasty. Looking upon my empty glass, I couldn’t help but notice the landscape of lacing left behind. In unusual detail, the lacing has formed into a cartoonist’s cow leaping from the ground towards the moon. I wish I could some how relate this back to the flavor or quality of the beer - but I can’t. However I think I will pay more attention to lacing in the future. luvcasks (178), USA

Pours burnished gold with a large fluffy ivry coloured head leaving lots of lacing... wow!
In the nose: (lots of malt... nope just kidding) hops... hops and hops, loads of citrus mango and sticky pine as well. Just a touch of alcohol peeks thru as the beer warms up
Taste: The malt profile is kept low (honeyed) and lean to showcase this hop wallop. Grassy, Spicy, sticky, mango like hop flavors come bursting thru... all these are very fresh and bright.
Very light on the tongue for the alcohol and finish is long dry and sticky
Overall: WOW! an excellent DIPA show casing an assault of west coast hops... excellent. Definitely among the best bottled DIPA (Hopsicle, Ruination and 3 Floyds). I would like to try this on tap or better on cask with a little more dry hopping
