Tastes of candied malts and apples. Hoppy and surprisingly roasty. Looking upon my empty glass, I couldn’t help but notice the landscape of lacing left behind. In unusual detail, the lacing has formed into a cartoonist’s cow leaping from the ground towards the moon. I wish I could some how relate this back to the flavor or quality of the beer - but I can’t. However I think I will pay more attention to lacing in the future. luvcasks (178), USA

Pours burnished gold with a large fluffy ivry coloured head leaving lots of lacing... wow!
In the nose: (lots of malt... nope just kidding) hops... hops and hops, loads of citrus mango and sticky pine as well. Just a touch of alcohol peeks thru as the beer warms up
Taste: The malt profile is kept low (honeyed) and lean to showcase this hop wallop. Grassy, Spicy, sticky, mango like hop flavors come bursting thru... all these are very fresh and bright.
Very light on the tongue for the alcohol and finish is long dry and sticky
Overall: WOW! an excellent DIPA show casing an assault of west coast hops... excellent. Definitely among the best bottled DIPA (Hopsicle, Ruination and 3 Floyds). I would like to try this on tap or better on cask with a little more dry hopping Juancho (225), Clearwater Beach, Georgia, USA

From a bomber. Sweet malt flavors, toffee, caramel, butterscotch, roast, draw you into a hop wallop punch. Beutiful JoeMcPhee (5056), Jackson Heights, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 17/20 | Jan 26, 2007 22 oz bomber. Pale golden colour, creamy, sticky white head that lasts forever. Aroma is great, fresh pine hop aroma, some grapefruit and mango. Lean malts with just a touch of light bready malt. Very fresh hop aroma with massive pine, grapefruit and mango being the most prominent. Lean malts behind the hops, but this is all about the hops. Sweet grassy herbaceousness aroma. The flavour is very hoppy as well, showing sweet tropical character including lime and mango along with pine and more pine. Malts are light and lean, pale malt and a faint touch of honeyish sweetness, but this is almost all pale malt. Light body considering the ABV which allows all the hops to play out on the palate. Hoppy, sticky resiny bitterness on the finish. Very different from their also excellent Hopsickle having a leaner body, simpler malts and a more straightforward resiny hop flavour/aroma. To me, both are terrific. HopDevil1979 (117), Charlottesville, Virginia, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 2/5 | 13/20 | Jan 19, 2007 A tremendous I2PA with a taste that you remember. A little rough on the palate, but it hurts so good. Pours medium amber, unfiltered with a good sized head. Smells of pungent hops and citrus. Tastes like an imperial should with max flavor per sip and a major aftertaste. Not soon forgotten! IrishBoy (2728), Bakersfield, California, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Jan 16, 2007 Bomber from Ledgers in Berkely, CA; Nose is flowery and piney hops, clear amber with a big glass-lacing yellowish head, flavor is caramel malts and hops(pine), hops(citrus)and more hops(bitterness), from the medium body, the bitterness lasting with a caramel note into a nice finish! Not quite as hoppy as Hopsicle, but terifically well balanced! sheatripper (863), Brooklyn, New York, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 14, 2007 Bomber. Hazy orange color with a minimal head. Spotty lacing. Aromatic hoppy nose--tangerine, peach, apricot--with some pine and candy malt. First sip was a sanitizing hop bomb--citrus oil and pine--which finishes peppery and leaves a lingering resiny bitterness. Hop oils accumulate on the teeth. Light to medium bodied, slightly oily palate. I’d like there to be a more solid malty foundation to support the hop load (the malts in the ’hopsickle’ were richer), but this is nonetheless a perfectly decent hop-focused 2IPA. | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jan 13, 2007 22 oz bottle: Fantastic from the start with a deep golden pour and an impressive foamy head. Things settle down slowly, leaving an everlasting foam cap and plenty of lacing. The hop definition in the nose is great - complex citrus notes dominate, with lesser notes of burnt caramel and earthy yeast following. Hop resins leave wisps of fresh cut grass. Everything is here - I just could use more of it for the style. Oh well, it is clean and the hops are really fresh and defined. The great malty back comes to the forefront in the body, balancing the moderate bitterness. Creamy mouthfeel makes the caramels melt in your mouth. More piney and citrusy hops help balance the sweetness, and tongue numbing bitterness ultimately prevails in the finish. Very well rounded.
