Commercial Description:
Our Moylander Double IPA is fat and resiny, with aggressive and excessive hops swinging on an enormous malt backbone like naughty monkeys on a vine. Double malt, double hops - do the math, it's academic.

A very bitter, but well balanced beer. The bitterness lingers. A sweet, resiny flavor with a piney flavor. Very good beer 7/3/8/4/16 ---re-rate--- 4/8/2008 Caramel, orange sweetness. Caramel, hoppy, but not overwhelmingly so. Sweet grapefruit finishes the beer clean, lingers dank- doesnt hurt with hops. 7/3/8/4/16

Pours a very lightly hazy golden amber with a huge foamy/rocky off white lacing head and sustained. Aroma of fresh American hops, lemon, grassy, hints of alcohol, very green with some caramel malt sweetness. Flavor was actually kind of spicy/peppery with lots of lemon and orange to follow. A little less "standard" as far as being your typical West Coast Double IPA, but interesting and good. Very nice hop bitterness, malt sweetness balanced with more spiciness than most Double IPA’s. Dry finish with some earthiness.

First off, I have to admit, I’m starting to get sick of IIPAs. They are like bellybuttons, everyone has one. Some of them are gross outties, some of them rather attractive innies. This is a sexy-ass navel. Simply glorious. First of all, the towering rocky head on this brew, though a hindrance to actual drinking, was a marvel to behold. Like a meringue in terms of peaks, but light and fluffy. I have to say, that the head was also truly bitter tasting. Unlike anything I’ve tasted in a head or an actual beer. The beer itself is a gorgeous orangey amber with a sluight haze and a few bubbles. If the head didn’t make this impossible to drink, it would be a perfect 5. The nose certainly doesn’t disappoint either. Big sweet round malt. Tight as a drum, the malt is roped in by some lovely floral to citrusy hops with huge notes of blueberries of all things. Not overly bitter, not overly cloying. Balanced. A little piney, but not much. Big and creamy and foamy in the mouth, just like the billowy head would suggest. Nice viscosity too, but very drinkable, with minor alcohol warming. Not fizzy though. The flavors are a blast. Really sets this beer aside from most in the style, while being rue to the style. Big sweet round and creamy malts with some huge citrus elements, particularly tangerine and orange. This comes across almost like a creamsicle. There’s again a hint of blueberry. The finish really reminds you that you’re drinking a serious IIPA though. Big bitter grapefruit comes out with piney resin taking hold and not disappearing until most of the aftertaste has passed. Very bitter, rather sweet, huge beer, and yet exceedingly clean. This is a must find next time I’m going through Ohio. I now have faith in this style not being passé. As this warmed, the bitterness came up, and the balance was slightly lost. Still very nice though. Point off for flavor.

This has a huge fluffy white head, its like a root beer float or a snowman in a cup or whipped cream. Its so big though that its very hard to drink without waiting a long time. It smells malty, citrusy and hoppy. The flavor is great- Its hoppy but also super creamy, with vanilla and malt. For something with this much hops, the creamy flavor is surprising. Blueberries and cherries. This is a great beer! Very bitter finish but also a touch of something sweet like maybe caramel.

22oz bomber acquired from IrishBoy, no date. Pours a cloudy orange golden with a one finger very light beige head. This eventually fades to a creamy film. Aroma of pine and grapefruit, biscuity malts, light alcohol, and floral hops--in that order. The alcohol in the flavor isn’t terribly strong, but doesn’t meld well with the flavor--it’s a separate entity--kind of grainy alcoholish. I taste the same hops as before, and the malts still seem a bit biscuity malty. Lingering bitterness, dry finish. Medium to full bodied, soft moderate carbonation. Not as good as the Hopsicle, though still good.

22 oz. bottle, tulip glass. Pours with a tall creamy head that lingers to the end. Strangely, there’s a little piece of something (bit of hop flower, maybe?) floating in there. No worries, though, because this is one enjoyable beer. Let this one warm up for a bit and it will really open up the flavors and aromas. Really enjoyable, and they’re not kidding about the "resiny" part- kind of feels like the bitterness is sticking to your tongue- good stuff. Unbalanced by design- this one’s for the hopheads.

Appears a copper toned, transparent amber with a lush, 3 finger, off-white head that takes a while to fade away . Tiny bubbles slowly rise to the top of the floating cap. Streaks of lace are left around the glass. Smell is of biscuit, pine, caramel, grapefruit, fruity peach, and hints of freshly cut wood. Taste is of the aromas, highlighted by a sweet, caramel, and grapefruit citrus blast. Mouthfeel is medium/full bodied, gently spiced, and semi-dry in a moderately smooth brew.
