Grass and tangerine. Flavors are lots of caramel and vanilla malts with a hop finish that is mostly just bitter. Not bad, but not my favorite DIPA DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Sep 30, 2006 22 ounce bottle purchased at the Nugget on Mace in Davis, CA. Aroma is a boisterous, hempy, pine-tree aroma. With a light, sweet, toasty maltiness. Minute ethanol notes are present, with them being the only flaw in this aroma. Sadly, this is a dark golden body that is transparent and totally filtered. The head is frothy, creamy, and large with plentiful lacing. The head is light khaki colored. Start is kind of earthy, woody and hoppy. The middle turns more malty and rather toasted and cereal-grain flavors emerge. A slight astringency follows with more earthy hoppy bitterness in the end. Slight ethanol is detected in the finish. All in all, this is a damn fine IIPA that is balanced and it is a great value. Great work. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 13, 2006 22oz bottle: Pours to a mostly clear amber colored body with a large, creamy, thick, eggshell colored head. The aroma shows fresh pine, pine resin, ripe grapefruit, very flowery fresh hops - very typical and nice west coast IIPA. Taste is intense, bitter, dry grapefruit, pine, sticky hop cones right up front, followed by more juicy hops all the way through, with the alcohol coming through a tiny bit (though not any more than I’d expect from any 8.5%). There is a very slight hint of grains if swallowed quickly towards the end, then prolongued juicy, citrus hops in the finish. Medium bodied, medium carbonated, fills the palate while feeling light and crisp on the tongue. Nice. vyvvy (2068), Hazelwood, Missouri, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 13, 2006 Pours hazy amber with a white pillowy head that gives very nice lacing. Aroma has lots of chewy grapefruit like hops, a touch of floral hops, some light citrusy sweetness and a minor amount of malt. Medium / full bodied with soft carbonation and a resiny feel. Taste has floral and smooth citrus hops, some sharp pine and still only a little malt for balance. There is a tropical citrus taste that makes this very smooth and easy drinking. The finish has all of the citrus on the taste and puts more pine hops into the mix. While there is not much malt for balance this is very easy to drink and highly enjoyable. Still the toasted pineapple frontal assult, but fades to a very nice bitter hoppy finish. glkaiser (1182), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Sep 1, 2006 Amber with medium head. Awesome aroma of hops and solid malt. Very piney hop taste is right up my alley. Not my favorite style of IPA, but damn good. Seems a bit thin. bgburdman9 (823), Columbus, Ohio, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 25, 2006 Poured an cloudy lt orange color with a pretty good white head that left good lacing. This had one of the strongest hop aroma I have ever encountered. It actually stung my nostrils. I love the pine and grapefruit aroma. The flavor had some intense bitterness also I actually could taste a little carmel malt. This is definetely not balanced at all but it was still pretty solid.
