Commercial Description:
Our Moylander Double IPA is fat and resiny, with aggressive and excessive hops swinging on an enormous malt backbone like naughty monkeys on a vine. Double malt, double hops - do the math, it's academic.

Ruby, golden appearance with a small lingering head. Enormously-hoppy nose, showing grapefruit, honey, and maple syrup (once it warms). It’s downhill from there. Could use a bit more upfront carbonation; lots of chewy bitterness from the hops, but too light a mouthfeel and a slightly plasticlike off-flavor. Very bitter, almost sour finish. Disappointing.

22oz bottle into a Snifter glass. Pours a very see through yellow golden color with a very thin white head. The aroma perfume is very sweetly and almost overly malty (which I do enjoy) with hints of a citrusy background with hops tossed up in the bunch. The flavor is actually much smoother than I imagined it would be. A very citrusy malt start comes through, and coats the palate quite well. It then moves into more of a bitter hop finish that is not all too overpowering like some IPA’s in general. The malt comes back after the finish. I really enjoyed this one. A very well balanced and not overly hopped DIPA.

bomber. Aroma: Fresh orange, grapefruit, pine, slight resin. Caramel malt aroma really opens up as it warms. Appearance: Dark amber and slightly hazed. Head was very small and off white. Head dissipated into a nice foamy ring around the outside of the glass. Good lacing. Flavor: A bunch of sweet malt and caramel upfront is soon confronted by the hops. Same sort of hop flavors from the nose presented here. Grapefruit and orange, strong pine, resin, and some fresh grass. Sweetnes lingers into the finish and kind of melds with the bitterness. Not as much ’up front’ bitterness as I was hoping for, but some nice lingering bitterness. A slight metallic twang also noticed right before the finish. Palate: Medium-full bodied. Moderate carbonation. Alcohol is well hidden. Overall: A pretty good DIPA, but malt sweetness is a little to out front and syrupy to me. It also disrupts the bitterness a bit.

22 oz bottle. I am going against the grain on this one, I do not feel this DIPA should be rated in the 97th percentile, there are far more better DIPA’s out there. Drink this next to Yule Smith and you will know what I am talking about. It pours a lightly cloudy orange with a nice head and tons of lacing. There is a sweet and bitter aroma, which I cannot depict. It must be a type of hop I am not used to. As I take a sip, the malt sweetness overpowers the bitterness, but there is a nice bitterness that lingers. The most dissapointing feature of this beer is the metallic taste it produces. I’m bagging pretty hard on this beer, I was just expecting more from Moylan’s. Still a very drinkable beer.

3.86? are you joking? definitely hoppy aroma, unusually citrusy. not sure what hops those are, but i prefer the more mango type. taste suggests metal, doesn’t have any malt backbone at all, and is mega hoppy bitterness finish. i find it dry. i need more malts. not much alcohol, but it’s there. normal body.

I wish I had another bottle of this DIPA. Slightly hazy. Light amber. Thick, creamy white head. good lacing. awesome citrus nose. with equally heavy bitter taste. EXACTLY HOW I IMAGINED IT TO BE!

Terrific DIPA. Huge aroma of pine and citrus wafts above a thick, rocky head. Deep brownish amber in appearance and very cloudy. Flavor explosions of orange and tangerine, rich and malty backbone without being overlysweet, some carbonation with little reminders of alcohol. Outstanding.
