Very smooth. slick mouthfeel. Great taste of caramel apples with figs, dates with a faint herbal hop essence. Pretty clean finish for a B-Wine. no cloying or harsh alcohol taste like some big barleywines. Very drinkable for any style of beer-excellent. 82705 Drink4Satan (586), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jan 18, 2008 Pours a visibly viscous amber/crimson red with a minimal beige head that leaves minial lacing. The nose is vinous and malty with doughy malts, grapefruit, grahm cracker, dark fruits and mild cocoa. The flavour presents a nice balance, but intense presence of NW hops and malt sweetness. Overwhelming bready malts accompany notes of grahm cracker, coffee, fig, por, grapefruity hops and chocolate in the flavour. Thick, syrupy full body and a drying, sticky lingering finish. pepsican (885), The Student Ghetto, Iowa, USA

Flavor of caramel malts, sugary candy, slight citrus, a touch of hops. Finishes bitter, light carbonation, moderately thick, very bitter. Could use some more hops in the flavor to back up everything else. shp555 (1693), Atlanta, Georgia, USA

| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 24, 2007 22oz bomber. Pours a deep reddish brown with a yellowish white head that pours thick. Smells great. Smells of hops and caramel sweetness. Tastes sweet, with some sugary caramel. Also some hop bitterness. Thick on the palate but not too thick. Lightly carbonated. Not a bad barleywine. glennmastrange (868), hobe sound, Florida, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 23, 2007 Bottle. Malts have a moderate aroma of roasted and caramel, hops smell heavily of perfume, spruce and orange, moderate yeast notes of leather and broth, with port, toffee, brown sugar, fruit cake and alcohol to back it all up. Head is small, creamy/bubbly, slightly off-white, with good lacing and is mostly diminishing. Color is murky orange/brown. Flavor is moderately sweet and acidic to start, and finishes moderately acidic and bitter. Palate is medium to full, texture is creamy/syrupy and chewy, and it has a soft carbonation. It finishes moderately astringent. A rich and very complex barley wine, well worth doing again.
