| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2007 22 oz. bottle thanks to a trade with dirty_martini. Pours a hazy brown with a moderate off-white head that faded to a film before mid-glass. Pleasant aroma of caramel, hops and malt. The flavor is initially caramel and hops which is followed by a big hops kick of pine and grapefruit. Bitter finish. Medium bodied. I thought the hops were too much for a barley wine and this beer lacked the full body and richness I associate with the style. AleDrinker (1090), Sunnyvale, California, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Aug 9, 2007 Pours brown with a big offwhite head. Lots of tiny bubbles swirling around, beautiful. Aroma is very hoppy with some pine and citrus. Aroma also very malty with plenty of roasted grain aromas. Big rich mouthfeel with a good bitter kick. Awesome balance. believeUme (17), California, USA

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jul 28, 2007 Bottle. Pours a dark copper color with a nice off-white head. Aroma is full of caramel, hops, malts, and fruit. Flavor is a mixture of fruity hops and caramel. The hops leave a nice tingling bitterness but not too much since the sweet caramel malts are in there as well. This is a very young barley wine that I would love to retry awhile from now. As it is now it is quite enjoyable.

| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 23, 2007 Dark Orange/Red Color with Offwhite Ring. Thick Aroma...Sweet but Dry...Notes of Rye Bread, Alchol, Syrupy Malt and Dry Hops. Pretty Thick Mouthfeel and Body. Initial Flavor Notes of Syrupy Malt, Rye Bread, Faint Spice and Some Warming...Followed with a Very Dry Hop Ending. The Transition isn’t Very Fluid, but There is an Overall Balance that Hop Lovers will Enjoy. It’s a Bit Dryer then I Prefer in a Barleywine, but Overall a Very Enjoyable Winter Warmer. michael-pollack (2719), King of Prussia, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 17, 2007 22oz. Bottle (THANKS glkaiser): Earthy malt aroma. Smells of rye, toasting, a little alcohol, wheat, and dough. Poured a deep copper/amber color with a medium-sized, creamy, tan head that lasted throughout. Excellent lacing. Cloudy. Sparkling. Flavor is lightly sweet and lightly bitter. Tastes very malty with notes of rye, salt, toasting, cream and a bit of piney hops. Full body. Smooth, creamy texture is particularly nice. Soft carbonation. Malty, salty, creamy finish. Overall, a good Barley Wine, but lacking a bit in flavor and aroma complexity. after4ever (2803), Brier, Washington, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 5/5 | 14/20 | Jul 8, 2007 22. Believe this would be the 06; I bought it June ’06 in Portland OR. Pours deep murky mahogany with occasional garnet highlights. Thick, pyramidding, moussy tan head with thick soup bubbles. Sheets of webby lace down the sides of the glass. Nice caramel and toffee nose with grain husk mixed in; even just a year at fridge temps seems to have the sugary glop right where it needs to be. Body’s on the high side of medium and shows good carb, plenty of nice forward flavors. Mid-palate’s a great mix of earthy BW goodness: wet leaves, tobacco, caramel, toffee, earth, grain husk, toast. Tidy little hollow resin-y pop at the end. Very clean and well organized and flavorful; looks, smells, and feels great. Beautiful work by the lads from Novato.
