Aroma is sweet and malty with notes of caramel, floral hops, herbs, some spice. Flavor is much of the same with a stronger hop note, some honey and caramel, citrus notes. Generally medium body with a hoppy and malty finish. sebletitje (1986), Tampa, Florida, USA

Pours orange with beige/tan head
Aroma is malty, caramel
Taste, some herbal hops, very matly with nice addition of caramel. Finish of light bitter hops. Full body, thick mouthfeel with a subtle dark sugar tone.
Moylans just never lets you down. Good stuff. BuckeyeBoy (1674), Boise, Idaho, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 7, 2008 Bottle Pours out a nice amber topped with a sand head. Aroma of sweet caramel and rich malts. Tast more of the sweetness maybe even a little brown sugar. A very nice bodie. Thanks Jake. MrBunn (1551), Western, Pennsylvania, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 5, 2008 Bomber. Pours a burnt orange with a smallish tan head. Many streams of small bubbles are rising, and aromas are a little boozy... sweetness and alcohol are notable, as is a bit of a fruit presence. That said, none of the smells come through strong or dominate. Flavor is nice... but maybe a little thin... lots of hops for a barley wine... pine and grapefruit help wash away some of the sticky sweetness comes right after beer hits lips. Then things pause for a second or so as you think about the hops... and then a lovely warmth from the 10% ABV comes in, helping you forget that it is freezing outside. Very nice, but then I am a sucker for a half decent barley wine. jake65 (1725), Williston, North Dakota, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Nov 27, 2008 Bottle: Amber pour wit a huge fluffy beige head. Sweet and sugary in the nose with caramel and bits of faded hops. Tastes of sweet caramel malt and citrus hops. Some light bits of floral. Sweet, fruity, and bready. Creamy mouthful. Very good. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Nov 18, 2008 Bottle from sparky27. Light red in color. Aroma of malt and a touch of hops. Taste is hoppy for a barleywine. Sweet fruits and sugar as well. The texture is kind of thin, which makes it easy to drink but takes away from the overall impression. Good barleywine but just missing that something... trevor211 (518), Seattle, Washington, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Nov 18, 2008 Pours very orange, but a full glass looks more like a dark bronze. Medium-sized dissipating head. Aroma is wonderful – very pungent, packed with hops and roasty malts. This is one of those beers you can easily smell as you’re pouring it. Also a bit of (very) ripe fleshy fruit – fig, or maybe even papaya. Flavor doesn’t pull through as much as I’d like. There isn’t a whole lot to counter the bitterness of the huge amount of hops, and it ends up hitting the back of your tongue with reckless abandon. I’d love to see more balance, and simply more flavor. For how fragrant this brew is, the flavor is very slight. Good overall, but not my favorite barley wine by any means. drfabulous (1272), Columbia, Missouri, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 2, 2008 Lots of sweet. Lots of malt. Most of what you want in a barley. This one sat over six months in my basement breaking the six month rule. No mind. Mellowed, but still good.
