Pours a hazy orangeish brown with a soapy white head. Aroma of malt, fruits, hops, caramel. Flavor is malt, lots of hops, very sweet and some earthiness to it. Pretty good barleywine.

Bottle pours burnt orange red with an off white head and some lace to decorate the tulip. The aroma is caramel, peaches, oranges, and grapefruit. The flavor starts out with sort of a dry malt hit, morphing into sweet malt, then followed by a massive hop wave that lingers. The palate is one which says, if you don’t lick your lips, then your lips will be sticky. I pretty much like this. The alcohol is not well hidden, but then again, it is a Barley Wine. Nice.

22 oz bottle. Pours a clear copper with a creamy off white head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is VERY subdued - some caramel and cola with a little hoppy alcohol.

The flavor is sweet sugary caramel with a big abrasive tarrry alcoholic hop finish that lingers in the aftertaste. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and slightly watery.

Overall, this is an unbalanced mess. It mellows out as I drink though. I managed to finish the bomber.

Bottle from Hollingshead. Pours a very rich, cloudy copper. Nose is sticky hop, caramel and grapefruit. Sweet malt and caramel flavor at the onset, which is quickly overtaken by hop and grapefruit bitterness that pleasantly stays on the palate. Very full mouthfeel with a perfect amount of stickiness.

Good sized head of fine bubbles. Creamy on top. Loads of caramel malts in the aroma with some biscuits, piney hops and oranges. Color is a crimson brown. Very nice color. Lots of roasted grains and caramel. Not overly sweet but the alcohol is up front and pretty noticable. Late swallow the hops come out to play and smack you in the face with a pine branch. Creamy smooth in the mouth and very warming from the alcohol. Finishes sweet and slick and hoppy. I like this more than I expected. A good winter weather brew.

Aromas of sweet malts and pretty big piney and citrus hops. Pours dark orange with a thin head. Flavors of big sweet malts, and a fruity piney bitterness that is big and lingers for a while. Nice full bodied that was pretty creamy and smooth.

Bottled. A hazy orange-red beer with a thin orangey head. The aroma is sweet with notes of over ripe fruit and hints of alcohol. The flavor is sweet malty with notes of over ripe fruit, alcohol, that gives it a good body, and dried peaches.

overall impression is that this could be a strong IPA. definitely has an IPA finish that lingers. I prefer my IPA’s on cask. beautiful head and lacy-ness, both on the glass and on top. pours with a nice appealing head. pleasing aroma, subtle. flavor is sharp, not much sweetness. could use some aging. Not what I would be looking for if I was in the mood for a barely wine, but would definitely satisfy any hop craving.
