Pour is opaque and appears pretty thick, lasting layer of "scum" on top. Mouthfeel is quite nice. Taste is richly hoppy and fruity with a distinct alcohol burn. Roastiness comes through with some dark fruits. Overall, pretty nice, though I’d bet this would do well with some age. Nice. Angeloregon (2025), Portland, Oregon, USA

Nose of sticky sweet toasted dark fruits. Some wood or peat in there as well. This is a great example of a RIS. A thick, chewy, cigar smoking beer. Creamy body and rich cacao and toffee presence. Alcohol well masked. Very very nice! ghawener (964), San Salvador, El Salvador

| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 10, 2008 Pours a deep black with a ring of brown head that lasts throughout and leaves some nice lacing. Not as thick as some Impy’s, as some light does come through in the glass. Not a lot of aroma other than roasted malt and grain. Flavor is pretty similar. Not very complex, just lots of roasty flavor with a bit of alcohol on the end. A pretty good, straightforward stout. Glouglouburp (2877), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Jun 9, 2008 In short: a strong very-alcoholised extra-simple very boring Imperial Stout.
How: Bottle 22oz, about 4 months old.
The look: Black body with a small but long-lasting tan head.
In long: Burnt malts, some leather, some wood ashes and A LOT of alcohol. Despite the high abv and simplistic nature of the beer didn’t feel very sweet and the body didn’t feel syrupy at all. Some powdery black chocolate/cacao but really the main flavour really is the alcohol here and it became truly bothersome by the middle of the bottle. Became more tolerable (more creamy, less alcohol bite) as it warmed-up and it sure wasn’t hard to take my time drinking it to let it warm up. More appropriate for a small sample at a tasting session that a full bottle by yourself at home… lonely, miserable, wishing for someone to knock on the door, hoping for the phone to ring… pintsize (1042), Austin, Texas, USA

Dark deep brown in color with a thin beige head. Smell is malt and roasted chocolate. Flavor is nice and mild malt with some good chocolate in there too. Mouthfeel is nice and is bordering creamy. Overall, nice and would have again. railcat1 (582), Orlando, Florida, USA

[thank you, After4ever!]
Pours deep black with fine red edges and a big, beautiful, creamy, cappucino head. Aroma is lots of sweet, fruity hops, deep roasted malts and a touch of chocolate. Super dry, rather light and nice mouthfeel. Flavour is super-hoppy, finely roasted, light coffee. Light varming vinious and very long aftertaste. A stunningly fresh imperial stout, extremely easily drinkable. Wonderful and very hoppy!
