| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Apr 21, 2008 This was compared with Phillip’s and Bear Republic in the same session. Of the three, this was my favourite. Rich heavy silky mouthfeel, sweeter and with more complexity layered into the chocolate and coffee and roast flavours-- chocolate covered cherries, dried figs, vanilla, tobacco, port-- I really savoured and enjoyed this. rayOfBeer (319), El Cerrito, California, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Apr 20, 2008 Poured at Firkin Fest at Triple Rock labeled 13months on cask, oily black opaque with a frothy large brown head. Aromas of molasses, chocolate, and roasted coffee. The flavor was layered with fig, brown sugar, bittersweet chocolate, roasted coffee, a twinge of smoke, nuts and vanilla. The palate had a velvety smooth creaminess. The firkin fest may have been the perfect format for this one, it had warmed to full flavor and I drank it next to the brewer who was sample testing to see if it was holding up at the fest. Awesome. eaglefan538 (2405), Wilmington, Delaware, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Apr 18, 2008 Bottle shared by bfeldmann. Pour was full dark black body, ok tan-colored head. The aroma was full chocolate, some roast, piney hops. The flavor followed suit, bitter chocolate notes, though, dark fruits, and a definite full hop finish in flavor. Mouthfeel was moderate to full for the style. Decent brew. Sparky27 (1642), Phoenix, Arizona, USA

Nose is roasted coffee, bakers chocolate and alcohol. Palate is roasted malts, cocoa, smoky coffee and alcohol with a hoppy finish. Moderately creamy mouthfeel. Another solid brew from Moylans. Pours opaque with an average, frothy, dark brown head, lasting with good lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (molasses, chocolate, coffee), heavy hops (perfume, resin), average yeast (leather) with notes of light alcohol, prunes, and tar. Medium bodied, alcoholic texture, average carbonation, and a bitter finish. Average duration, heavy acidity and bitterness. Ramenen (456), San Salvador, El Salvador
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Apr 14, 2008 Drank it on cask at the Firkin Festival in Triple Rock. Bourbon like smell. Powerful, sweet malts and the cask gives it a bourbon character. Warms you up. Nephilium (558), Ohio, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Apr 13, 2008 Starts with a roasted aroma, with hints of coffee, anise, and chocolate. Pours an opaque black, with a thin tan head. Flavor is strong in roasted characters, with a chocolaty finish. Nice creamy mouthfeel, with the alcohol very well hidden. Not a bad Imperial Stout.
