Commercial Description:
Chocolate truffles, cocoa, espresso coffee, burnt currants, the sweetness of a sherry - all come to mind when enjoying an Imperial Stout. A rich porter of English origin brewed to withstand the long voyage from London to Czarist Russia. The classic "Winter Warmer". Big, Strong, Malty Stout.

Bottle. Pours a thick dark black with a small creamy tan head. Aroma is very malty with roasted chocolate. Creamy sweet and full. Chocolate, coffee, a little bitter hops and salt in the finish. Pretty powerful stuff, but the alcohol is hidden well.

Imperial indeed....wow, almost takes my breath away with the alcohol on first sip. Good hops, nice roasted malts. Tastes of chocolate and a bit o licorice. Black with huge light brown head. Very tasty. I don’t get much espresso taste out of it. Big chocolate in the nose. Medium thickness for a stout.

Great stuff!! One of the best Imperial Stouts I’ve ever had. Nose of Chocolate, sherry, Coffee, and some dark fruits. Pours a very deep brown with a thick, creamy tan head. 22 oz bottle from Bev mo La Mesa

1 pint 6 ounces of dark brown stout poured with a large creamy dark tan head. The head settled and beautiful lacing was evident and appreciated. Aroma was light with nice whiffs of roast chocolate. Flavor was very nice. Big coffee and powdered cocoa and burnt caramel flavors were appreciated. The bottle mentions a sweetness of a sherry. I detected the slight sweetness more in line with the sweetness of malted aged dates or raisens marinated in a toffee laced expresso. (very nice) Aftertaste was more malted cocoa and coffee. The 10% ABV was hidden well and was barely noticable until it nails you toward the end of the bottle. (always apprecated) As with other good imperials, this one became warmer and more flavorful as it warmed. I enjoyed this very much and would drink it again.

Chcolate, licorice, tar and dark, roasty coffee aroma; bittersweet flavor with some dark fruits, dark chocolate, and fudge flavors with some citric hops; creamy palate with a bitter finish, nice balance; thick but not cloying, alcoholic. Well made IS

Huge bubbly, viscous tan head which fades fairly quickly. Deep opaque black color, just a slight hint of reddish-amber when held up to the light. Sweet aroma of malt, dark roasted (burnt) grains, dark roasted coffee, caramelized brown sugar, some mysterious smokiness. Flavors were very sweet and predominantly of dark roasted/burnt grains, malt, caramelized sugars, molasses, coffee, cocoa, and just a hint of hops. The alcohol is not present in the taste, but does, over time, produce a slightly "numbing" effect on the tongue. Intense, but not at all unpleasant. Really smooth and silky--very pleasant texture and mouthfeel. A powerful brew.

A deep, dark black pour with minimal head as expected. Chocolate mocha taste that isn’t too heavy on the coffee taste. Well-balanced and thick texture, full body. Smooth aftertaste with a malty hint. Very well done

Bottle from cbkschubert. Not as dark as I thought, pours a thin head. Sweet aroma, very pleasant. Flavor is a little sour at first. Changes to a slightly bitter sweet stout as it warms. Pretty smooth, very sippable. Not as thick as I like but still a good imperial stout. I enjoyed this one as a nice afterdinner drink. I enjoyed this one. Cheers.
