Commercial Description:
Chocolate truffles, cocoa, espresso coffee, burnt currants, the sweetness of a sherry - all come to mind when enjoying an Imperial Stout. A rich porter of English origin brewed to withstand the long voyage from London to Czarist Russia. The classic "Winter Warmer". Big, Strong, Malty Stout.

Bottle. Pours a dark brownish black color. No head to speak of our lacing. Strong aroma of alcohol, malts, caramel, coffee and maybe a touch of apples. Wow what a mouthful. Very silky smooth and rich. Malts, coffee, chocolate and maybe a touch of soy flavoring as well. Very nicely hidden alcohol. Clean and smooth on the finish. I held this brew for about 3 months. Wish I would have drank it sooner.

Bottle: Black, brown head, retentive, no lacing. Nose of milk chocolate, mocha coffee, sweet and silky, very creamy sweet and rich with roast, dairy and light soy sauce. The flavor is rich, full bodied, nice astringency and balance. Little alcohol and a sweet full malty finish. Very tasty. I thought this would be an over-astringent hop or alcohol bomb. Nice balance with some tobacco in the finish.

<!-- B -->Bottle<!-- /B --> Poured a dark rich black with an incredible milk chocolate colored head that was creamy and dense, lasting nearly the entire glass. Aroma was mainly dark, but soft roasted malts with planty of chocolate and a little coffee. Flavor was a nice blend of the above, mainly the choclate again, I thought, good, dark roasted, slightly burnt flavors, a little coffee and overal a bit on the sweet side. Not so bitter as others of the style, and the ABV was hidden well. Very smooth slick feel but not over the top heavy. Lingering bitter smokey trailer. Excellent. A new entry into my top 20 Thanks Jordan !

This was a bottle the Indra has been sitting on for a while. The person he got it from had written 10/03 on the lable, so this one is well aged. I was a bit disappointed from the start. The beer poured dark brown with some light garnet highlights and a creamy brown but short lived head. The aroma is on the subdued side as well with brown sugar and mocha chocolate. Ahh but the flavor is very good. Start like a good strng glass of chocolate milk, then leaves behind a nice burn to remind you that this is not for you children. Rich full bodied with a stick to your bones character. Thanks a million for this on Indra. Very good.

first of all this one was drank out of a coffee mug which is quite appropriate considering the strong taste and aroma of coffee beans and chocolaty taste. although it was a bit too strong for my tasting... hahahaha...

22 oz. bottle from Dilly Deli. Drank 5/18/06. Bottle conditioned. Thick pour. Totally black in the glass, can’t see through it at all. Big, thick 1+" brown / dark tan head. Nice and creamy, drops to a decent layer / ring. Not any lacing - could be a dirty glass. Aroma - pretty strong coffee, espresso, chocolate, and roasted malt. Chocolaty sweetness really comes out as it warms. Flavor - starts off sharp and bitter. Ton of roasty maltiness, some coffee / espresso and some chocolate. Definitely sweetness at the swallow and a nice, crisp, dry finish. A little bit of alcohol warmth. Palate - creamy and smooth, big and thick. Nice, crisp finish. Silky smooth on the tongue. Overall - a really good Imp. stout. If anything a little too sweet. But really good. Nice aroma, good flavor, solid mouthfeel. Hides 10% pretty well too. Would definitely like to have this one again.

Pitch black color with a big creamy tan head. Aroma is chocolate, alcohol and sausage, maybe some smoke? Flavor has more coffee than the aroma but everything else is there. Its a very drinkable imperial.
