Commercial Description:
Chocolate truffles, cocoa, espresso coffee, burnt currants, the sweetness of a sherry - all come to mind when enjoying an Imperial Stout. A rich porter of English origin brewed to withstand the long voyage from London to Czarist Russia. The classic "Winter Warmer". Big, Strong, Malty Stout.

Bottled. Pitch black, oily pour with an attractive toasted tan head. Tons of dark chocolate in the nose, with an additional creamy marachino cherry aroma, similar to the chocolate covered cherries given as inexpensive Christmas gifts. I’m also getting a little brandy in my nostrils as well, which is a bit pungent and forces we to withdraw before plunging into my snifter for another whiff. The actual texture of the beer is much thinner than the opaque coloring suggests. Lots of chocolate and burned coffee on the tongue. To some this up in one sentence: If Starbuck’s brewed beer, it would taste like this. Too much bitter coffee and chocolate at the finish. The final smack is of dark, unsweetened chocolate powder.

Chocolate, coffee, malt aroma, becomes creamier as it warms, big dark chocolate taste, very creamy texture, bitter at the end. That bitterness becomes almost annoyingly strong at the end. Except for that its very well done

bomber courtesy of Saarlander & Fordest in recent trades.
rich malty aroma full of chocolate, coffee and dark ripe fruit. flaors of the aforementioned are strong but well-rounded up front and then seem to fade quickly. alcohol is well hidden with little hop bitterness on the tail-end. a nice stout, thanks Aaron & Sean!

An amazongly tasty stout, with not an overwhleming amount of complexity, but had all the flavor I wanted with its rich chocolate flavors, velvery almost silky mouthfeel, rich but not overpowering, rich fruits and sweets malts with just a hint of cocoa and marshmallows, with some great lingering aftertastes. Wonderful

Bottle. Dark deep brown, almost but not quite opaque. Roasty estery aroma, with chocolate, roasty malts, and a touch coffee. Flavors are more roasted malts, with chocolate, toffee, and some prunes and raisins. Decent mouthfeel, and a bit warming.

From 22 oz bottle at the Montreal YeHa! 2005. Dark red-brown, not really black, light head laces nicely...nice aroma, balanced bitter coffee and sweetish chocolate with a hint of cream...in the body, bittersweet chocolate abounds, nearly drowning out the espresso notes...alcohol noticeable but not prominent, finish dry and moderately bitter.

bottle. deep brown body with a decent size mocha head. the aroma is full of dry coffee roast and chocolate. flavour is along the same lines with a great roasted malt component and it’s quite dry. warm alcohol towards the bitter finish but not really up at 10%...very quaffable and easy to drink. quite nice.
