The head on this dark dark brown pour was so small, that I wasn’t sure if it was even carbonated. The second pour I got a little more wild and made myself some foam. Wonderful chocolate coffee aromas. Molassas and toffee all the way through. Flavors were choloclate malt and coffee with just a touch of aclohol that was otherwise pretty well masked. Roasty and a slightly heated finish. Nice brew. temporrari (327), Fort Wayne, Indiana, USA

I was pretty drunk by the time we got to this beer, but I remember it being tasty. I’d love to have it again, as I took no actual notes, just numbers. NYHarvey (2154), New York, New York, USA
| 4.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Aug 31, 2005 A lot of chocolate sweetness in the aroma with some coffee notes beneath that. Deep black with a thumb thick mocha head. Burnt coffee and chocolate..not roasted burnt, like smores over a campfire. Very rich maltiness to it. Lots of lacing and a very pleasing mouthfeel. Almost feels like a chilled esperesso with a shot of chocolate liquer in it. fly (1333), austin, Tejas, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 23, 2005 Nice, deep colored ale with a grainy texture much like the Hopsickle toned down to a Cali pale ale. Feel like the proximity to hop country floats through the vast majority of beers I’ve sampled here as well they should I suppose. madcow75 (425), Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Jul 29, 2005 22 oz bottle. Pours black with thin tan head that diminishes. No lacing. Very thin looking stout from the pour. Aroma doesn’t come out and hit you like some other Imp Stouts. Mild mocha coffee aroma. Tastes like bitter espresso with a hint of sweetness. Pretty thin mouthfeel, not oily at all. I think the 10% is hidden well, a little more evident as it warms. Mocha taste lingers. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 2/5 | 15/20 | Jul 19, 2005 22 oz bottle-pours almost pitch black with a very small off-white head. Doesnt really look that imperial esqe-the pour was not oily-just looked like a normal stout. big rum rasin aroma comes at you at first wiff-pretty nice i must say. notes of fudge, carmel, char, and some alcohol. Flavors are roasty, burnt, with some nice rum rasin tones. THe body is just too lite for this beer i must say. Im callilng this expedition lite. Some nice toffee flavors come out in the finish. This beer has good balance and flavors, but just needs a better body to transport them. Styles (1653), Lincoln Park, Michigan, USA
| 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Jul 6, 2005 Bottle courtesy of Pailhead. Pours very dark brown with nice tan head. Aroma is mostly dark roasted grain(burnt), with some coffee in the background. Initial flavor is all chocolate, with a little coffe in the finish. Some warming alcohol. Little thin for an impy. | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jun 28, 2005 Dark burgundy with a frothy tan head. Very sprightly nose; fragrantly fruity and yeasty. Creamy, milkshake-like mouthfeel was awesome. Notes of milk chocolate and dark toast. Kind of musty. Fruity aromas in the background. Rich and tasty ... except for a little dish rag. Dryish, bitter and slightly burnt finish. Overall, pretty tasty beer.
