mjg74 (1995), La Mesa, California, USA Oct 20, 2008 Bomber from La Mesa Market. Hazy golden color upon pouring. Sweet berry aroma. Some sourness as well. Sweet fruity flavored with some sour. Some sour/lambic qualities. Better than your average fruit beer. kp (8400), Woodstock, Georgia, USA Sep 1, 2007 Updated: Sep 14, 2008Date: 03/22/1997

aspidites (1274), manteca, California, USA Mar 17, 2005 Soapy and cloying palate with an extract laden nose. Mildly aspartame like sweetness and some acidity. Very extract forward finish with an overly fizzy mouthfeel. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA Mar 9, 2005 Updated: Mar 12, 2005(22 oz bottle: $2.80 at Moylan’s Brewery in Novato, CA) What is with these guys? So many of their bottles are severely over carbonated. Despite a very careful pour, I still ended up with a complete glass of foam. Hell, there’s even an inch of foam topping the beer INSIDE THE BOTTLE now. I may as well go rate another beer and come back to this one after the head dies down. {Rated Abita Purple Haze} Okay, I’m back, and the head has receded to a very bubbly, quarter inch layer atop the beer. For quite some time, the frenetic rush of carbonation bubbles as they raced to the surface was quite a sight. Unfortunately, the wait wasn’t worth it. The berry flavor of this beer is lightly tart, and lightly sweet, but isn’t especially fruity and tastes artificial and plasticy to me. Since the berry is the overwhelming flavor, it’s hard to get past it. The wheat flavor in the background seems pretty standard. Mild hops bitterness isn’t especially noticeable until the finish, where it’s barely noticeable. The nose matches the tart berry and wheat flavor. The palate is (obviously) highly carbonated, and the beer is light to medium in body. Light golden color with a modest haziness on the early pours, but the final pour releases a good amount of sediment from the bottom of the bottle, so the beer shows lots of suspended particles. The foamy head is off-white, but with all that foam, there is no lacing since it just slides right down the glass, returning to surface of the beer. Not a bad beer, I mean, it’s okay, but if you’re gonna make a boisenberry wheat beer where the berry dominates, at least make it fruity. PuckLSHS (101), USA Mar 7, 2005 Looks like an American Hefeweizen, but has the flavor of a great soft fruit beer. The fruit is nicely balanced with the wheat and is a great starter or finish beer for your meal at the brewpub. SDalkoholic (1186), Chula Vista, California, USA Sep 3, 2004 WOW this smells exactly like some skunky blue berry chronic and has a real fruity scent none like i have none in the past. It looks like a hefeweizen in the glass but don’t be fooled. I was fooled and wondering how they pulled off lacing berry flavors and not making the beer as sweet as it smells. motelpogo (4394), Plzen, Czech Republic Aug 19, 2004 at the brewery. quite pale, generic berry aroma, tasted lightly of blueberry and a little of the lemony wheat beer base. pleasant enough tbookman (618), Ephrata, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 21, 2004 Nice fruity aroma - slightly cloudy gold appearance with an uneven head. Tasted like a raspberry club soda - the rest of the beer was hidden away.
