DuffMan (2139), Calgary, Alberta, Canada Nov 30, 2008 Thanks to mmmIPA for this one. A surprisingly handsome pour: deep amber bronze with a thick cream-coloured head. Lovely aroma of perfumey honey and caramel. Toasty toffee palate, grainy, with a more nuanced honey presence than alluded to in the aroma. Not excessively sweet at all, and very nicely malted. Great balance. Normally honey lagers are too sweet for me, but this one is made with superior craftsmanship. Did they borrow Flying Dog’s label artist? joss (3249), Garching b. München, Germany Jul 6, 2008 bottle. Light perfumed aroma. Amber, golden head. Light body and light on the palate, honeyish a hint roast. Not super interresting. presario (2501), Calgary, Alberta, Canada May 22, 2008 Bottle. Honey aroma fills a small room. Amber. Full mouth feel. Sweet! Lots of clover honey taste. Not cloying or syrupy. Bit of a hop touch in the finish. mgermani (649), Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Nov 5, 2007 Pours a clear copper with a modest fine-foamed head with good retention and just the faintest aroma of clover. Taste is slightly lagerish - skunky yeast and faint toastiness. A bit of honey in there, and a warming finish, except the skunkiness sours it a bit. Body is quite good - creamy and well-carbonated. The best part of this beer is the label design - a very funky departure from the usual Begbie label. I can’t see myself finishing this bottle, though. CapFlu (3353), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada Oct 27, 2007 (650ml bottle) Purchased at BCLS on Fort Street in Victoria. Pours headless with a deep orange body. Nose is nicely malted and honey. The flavour however is bready and musky.
