Jun 25, 2009 Had this on cask at the Ice Axe Grill at Government Camp, OR. Colour... very dark brown! Nose... light roasted malt and smoke. Palate... light body, nicely smoked, roasty malt and a lengthy smoky finish. I’m not a major fan of rauchbiers (sp?), and the like, but this was pretty nice.

Jun 8, 2009 Actually quite liked this. A very complex malt body, tastes like a variety of grains. Strong roasted back, with a good hop profile, and wonderfully balanced.

Mar 6, 2009 On tap @ Jake’s Crawfish House in Portland. Moderately dark brown color with sparse light tan head. Decent chocolate and coffee notes on the aroma, mild roast underneath. Taste is relatively mild, maybe bland with a very mild roast component. Decent porter.

Dec 20, 2008 Draft at Ice Axe Grill, Government Camp, OR. Pours a black color with a small off-white head. Has a roasted malty chocolate aroma with some weak hints of smoke. Roasted malty smoky chocolate flavor with some hints of coffee. Has a roasted malty and slightly smoky finish with some hints of chocolate in the aftertaste.

Aug 21, 2008 Dark with red ruby highlights and faint white head. Minimal roasty aroma. Not a robust porter but well balanced between dry roast and malt sweetness. Not highly hopped.

Aug 9, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Black color with a light tan head. Smells like a mild rauchbier. Tastes like a mild rauchbier. Mayhap a little coffee in the slightly sweet finish. Excellent.

Jul 8, 2008 Dark brown with a tan head that sticks to the side of the glass with very nice lacing. Chocolate, light roast, and some subtle salty smoke. Sweet initially with some chocolate and roasted malts, smoke follows but is nice and subtle. Body is creamy. Notes say good with an exclamation point.

Jun 21, 2008 Draft. A brown beer with a thin brown head. The aroma is sweet malty with notes of caramel, and so is the flavor with a bitter finish from the roasted malt.
