| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | May 7, 2009 On tap at Boonville Beer Fest, called "Weed IPA." Average on the palate for an IPA. Reid (1092), Salem, Oregon, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Feb 22, 2006 OK saw this at a local store..ive seen more of this brewer here in Salem in the last few months. And was impressed with their porter and amber..so this looked like a sure thing.
In appearance it is certainlly an attractive IPA deep orange/amber with a gorgeous bubbly ,creamy tan head.
the aroma however is puzzlingly subdued for a IPA..i really cant pick up much hoppiness at all..just some malts.
mmm again the taste is very mellow and mostly well balanced until the end where the hops eventually show through mainlly in the aftertaste..Nice enough on the palate..quite smooth ( though this is not a good thing for an American IPA).
Overall i found this drinkable..but in my opinion this is more an English styled IPA than an American one. 5000 (2600), Hardened Liver, Washington, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Sep 28, 2005 Bottle: Hazy amber, a bit on the darker side, slightly hazy, fairly large foamy off-white head, nice lacing, no visible carbonation. Sure seems dark for an IPA. Slight sweaty aroma, malty, biscuity... but where are the hops? Pine begins to emerge as this beer warms. A bit more hoppy on the tongue, from the middle to the finish. Otherwise, a bright biscuity start, decent malt base, lingering citrus peel with subtle campfire. Body and mouthfeel are medium, but its nearing fullness. Somewhat sweet finish, a little bit tangy and resiny. Butterscotch comes out when the beer warms. Lots going on here.   An odd IPA, but not bad. Thanks Bill!

Shasta Brewing Co. in Weed, CA) and (12 oz bottle: Purchased at the brewery) Once again with this brewery, the sweet, caramely malts have strong presence, but at least in the IPA, there’s a mild roastiness and a solid hops flavor and bitterness to balance the beer. The mildly aromatic nose is fairly sweet and malty, with mild hops for a pleasant smelling beer. Medium bodied, with good carbonation levels, and a somewhat crisp finish. Bright coppery body is capped by a tan head that leaves a thick-ringed pattern of lace on the glass. A pretty decent IPA, very flavorful, but just too sweet for the style in my opinion. Still worth seeking out if you’re traveling on the I-5 corridor in northern California. beerbuzzmontreal (2921), Montreal, Quebec, Canada
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 3, 2006 Pours a clear reddish amber color with a thin white head. The aroma is sweet with some mild hops. Good flavor of earthy hops with some sweetness and a bitter finish. The body is light with an oily texture and moderate carbonation. This beer doesn’t have any problems or off flavors but it’s definitely not what I look for in a west coast IPA.
