sloth (1536), Ceciltucky, Co., Maryland, USA Sep 21, 2008 Bottle from footbalm, thanks Eric! Medium statured brown head, good retention and nice lacing. A dark porter, almost black in color. Fat, roasty, chocolatey, coffeeish nose with some hop spiceyness coming through. Medium body, munchy, lightly oily, slick with good carbonation. Nicely roasty, chocolatey, caramely, bittersweet chocolate and lightly spicey. Well balanced. Dry, lingering finish. A nice, big ass Porter. Thanks again Eric! spikester (434), Salem, Oregon, USA Sep 4, 2008 Pours dark brown with med. brown head and lacings. Nice cocoa hoppy aroma. Bitter chocolate taste. Very smooth and an easy drinker. Need to do a side-by-side with Deschutes Black Butte Porter which I consider a benchmark porter. This version is really good. Recommended.
kmweaver (2118), Takoma Park, Maryland, USA Aug 30, 2008 12oz bottle, courtesy of Schutzenliesel. Thanks, Tom! Pours a hazy, dark chocolate brown color; thin light-tan head with patchy lacing. Lots of nougat, raw peanuts, and some funky, chocolatey cardboard; odd. Medium mouthfeel: chewy nougat, bitter chocolate, and oily peanuts; relaxed carbonation; oily, filling and pleasant overall; tasty save for the nose. Medium finish: dry, toasty malts, and dark chocolate. ucusty (1201), Wake Forest, North Carolina, USA Aug 27, 2008 Dark brown pour with frothy tan head. Bittersweet chocolate on the nose. Favor is chocolate, coffee, and roast. Slightly dry finish jake65 (1273), Meridian, Idaho, USA Aug 24, 2008 Bottle: Dark brown pour with a thick and creamy brown head. Nose is rich with roast and chocolate. Some light bitters. Taste is heavy in the roast with coffee and cocoa. Basic offering for a porter and well done at that. thanks Jeremy.
