marcus (1826), Sacramento, California, USA Aug 14, 2008 This black ale poured with a thin tan head and a rich malt aroma. It’s slightly carbonated with a rich malt flavor and a long bitter finish. douglas88 (1557), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA Aug 7, 2008 A cool bottle thanks to footbalm. I guess they are going for a hippie/ weed smoker market, plus the brewer is in Weed, CA. Anyway, pours a dark brown with a thick black sludge, a medium brown head. The aroma is mostly coffee and sour notes. The taste is quite nice; a rich coffee and chocolate mix, some roasted malts, a hint of bitterness and nice smooth earthy finish. Very nice. cathcacr (586), Portland, Oregon, USA Jul 14, 2008 #504 (Eddie Murray) Aggressively sedimented at the bottom of the bottle, and perhaps consequently more thick and stouty than you expect with a Porter. Maybe more like a Great Lakes Eddie Fitz. I’d have to re-try to be sure I didn’t get an off bottle.
Snojerk321 (1917), San Diego, California, USA Jun 4, 2008 12oz bottle. Pours a deep brown with a small beige head, some lacing. Lots of toffee, caramel, and coffee on the nose. A lot more spice than expected as well. Brew had a finish of bitter chocolate. blackmurder (164), sadf, Hawaii, USA May 28, 2008 I thought this beer was suck! It tasted like suck! And sucked! It should have been better but it sucked sorry but it was the suck! I found better offerings in WEED california before that were smokier in flavor and greener. I would expect better form weed california. LOL! DTM (541), Winters, California, USA May 15, 2008 Bottle from Total Wine and More in Roseville, CA. Poured a back color with a small head. Tasted of chocolate, coffee and roasted malts. Smooth and very easy to drink for a porter. Beershine (2678), Hue, Vietnam May 3, 2008 Bottle, special procurement. Opaque black with tan head. Roasted malt, tree bark aromas. Charred flavors but smooth and robust. Nice. after4ever (2711), Brier, Washington, USA Mar 24, 2008 12-oz. Cute little name, label, bottle caps, etc. Black with ultra light gray rim. Huge sour coffee nose. Creamy, oily body. Nice soft woolly fizzy carb. Coffee, chocolate, and roast on the mid-palate, though the coffee is hugely reduced from the nose, much more balanced and harmonious with the other notes. Mild chocolatey finish.
