Many, many thanks to Dave for tracking this down for me!! Poured a deep, murky brown with a huge, sticky, well-retained cap of dark brown head. The aroma began with well-roasted dark chocolates and coffee grounds.. warmth brought out the real goods, in the name of spicy pepper and pine bitterness, some deeply-rooted caramel, and star anise.. just decadent, and expertly balanced!

This was very hoppy in the flavor department.. pepper, grapefruit, and pine bitterness singe the tongue ever-so-slightly on the fore, with rich malty goodness falling into place right behind.. almost burnt dark chocolate, coffee, and molasses round out the middle, with coffee, pine, and floral bitterness on the burnt finish.. left a lenghty impression. Medium-plus bodied with a lot of hoppy bitterness, but balanced well by solid malt usage. This was a truly excellent porter!

12oz Bottle - 99 Bottles - Federal Way, WA
Aroma – Deep roasty malt aroma. Dark chocolate and spicy
Appearance – Dark brown, clear with a thin tan head.
Flavor – A great chocolate with a thin amunt of spices. This was a dark rasty maly nectar from the gods.
Palate – A thick porter feel. more like a stout but with t e porter finish. Great stuff!!!
Overall –This was a great porter. I loved the flavors this left me wanting more. Great Beer for the night.

4 ounce sample on tap at California Brewer’s Festival. Metallic, hoppy, grapefruity aroma with roasted, burnt, choco-coffee notes present. Quite metallic. Quite hoppy. Mostly opaque dark brown/black body with an orangey-tan head that is frothy. Black, burnt, roasted, malty notes to start. A bit of tobacco and leather is also present. Finishes with some bitter grapefruity hoppiness. A very hoppy porter...too much so for my tastes.

Bottle. Complex aroma of chocolate, coffee and toasted malt. Opaque brown/black color with a tan head that rapidly ringed. Medium bodied; creamy carbonation. Toasted malt, chocolate, coffee. The finish is quite dry, and there is enough bitter to say there is hop. But it could be the coffee. Wonderful stuff.

A good beer, somewhat chocolaty, a bit over malted. First rate: 4.5 Aroma is really nice, coffee and hops and toasted malts. A little hoppy bite in the finish. A quite nice pleasant porter.
