Courtesy of After4ever – thanks Tom. It’s pitch black with a huge, light brown, creamy and lasting head. The aroma has a light sweetness, notes of roasted malt and licorice. The flavour has a light sweetness and a roasted bitterness, notes of chocolate, licorice and it’s smooth and full-bodied and the finish is dry and roasted. It’s charming.

Any first impressions?
-Ample foam and lacing atop opaque darkness.
-Chocolatey sweetness benefits from a roasted malt contour, building a solid yet self-effacing aroma.
-Milk chocolate and molasses abound, straightforward and humble.
-A chewy, round mouthfeel provides sufficient nutritional value in the form of biteable maltiness.

What if you dig deeper?
-A delicate roastiness follows the malty sweetness.
-Did I imagine these faint hops in the finish?
-Sweetness evolves into a subtle licorice/star anise component towards the end.
-A nourishing, well-crafted porter for meditative sessions.

Bottle; no date.
