Roasted toffee aroma with some chocolate. Crimson edges surround a dark pour with a nice, off-white head. Hello! Lots of toffee, chocolate, roasted malts and tasty bitterness envelop you in deliciousness. Lingering sweet and char. Porters don’t get much beter than this!

Bottle: Dark brown with a light brown frothy head. Choco aroma abounds. Usual charcoal, burnt flavors with a bit of tanginess following it. Thin feel and a solid brew. Time to head to Weed.

On tap at The Red in Santa Cruz. Poured into a pint glass. Clear dark brown color with an ecru head. Tons of creamy lacing. Aroma is ashy chocolate and sourish coffee. Flavor is much the same. Sweet with an unappealing tartness. Mouthfeel is thin but creamy due to a nitro-like carbonation. I’m stunned that this has such a high rating here.

Aroma is nutty and roasty. Flavor is full bodied, but rounds out. A nice full bodied Porter. Finishes clean like a porter should. Nose is full of roasty, malty notes.

Bottle:This has a nice mocha chocolate, somewhat milky nose; heavy dark chocolate and espresso roastiness, some very light acidic fruitiness, fairly bold flavors; mildly bitter finish without much hop character and a little on the sweet side; nice silky palate. Very good.
