A dark porter, almost black in color. Fat, roasty, chocolatey, coffeeish nose with some hop spiceyness coming through. Medium body, munchy, lightly oily, slick with good carbonation. Nicely roasty, chocolatey, caramely, bittersweet chocolate and lightly spicey. Well balanced. Dry, lingering finish. A nice, big ass Porter. Thanks again Eric! | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Oct 1, 2006 12 oz bottle courtesy of Kenb. Very dark brown with big old head. Dissipates rather quickly. Nose not incredibly powerful-- a little hops, dark chocolate, cinnamon, vanilla, and sweet malts. Flavor is roasted chocolate malts and faint coffee beans, finished with a touch of hops that leaves some bitterness on the palate. Overall a good beer, but leaves me wanting something more. Maybe because this is my first porter since tasting the Duck Rabbit Baltic Porter which kind of blew me away. In any case, thanks Ken! douglas88 (1603), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

I guess they are going for a hippie/ weed smoker market, plus the brewer is in Weed, CA. Anyway, pours a dark brown with a thick black sludge, a medium brown head. The aroma is mostly coffee and sour notes. The taste is quite nice; a rich coffee and chocolate mix, some roasted malts, a hint of bitterness and nice smooth earthy finish. Very nice.
