Commercial Description:
Katya is one of our little girls and she is modeled on the stouts made for export to the Russian Imperial Court during the 18th century. Catherine the Great is known to have been very fond of the style, hence our naming this beer Katya. In the Glass Katya shows a deep brown/black colour with a dense tan head. The aroma is one of deep chocolate liquor with hints of overripe fruit and is followed by a beer of similar flavours carried by a smooth and large body. At 7% abv Katya Imperial Stout will warm against the chilliest winter and is a perfect partner for rich chocolate or coffee desserts.

Rating 500. Sampled from the brewpub. Firstly this is a foreign stout, not an Impy. Aside from that this was a full bodied beer. Chocolate and coffee with a minimal hop profile. Nice drinking.

Sample at MT Brewery. Pours very dark brown with a creamy tanned head. Aroma and flavour of rich dark chocolate, dark fruit, light coffee and alcohol. Smooth mouthfeel. The bitterness follows through with more chocolate in the finish. I’d like to see this bottle conditioned as it should hold up nicely over time.

I had been waiting to try this beer since reading about it in the paper and I finally found a pub with it on tap - the Bearded Dragon @ Tamborine for those interested.A wonderfull aroma that reminded me of chocolate lique.r The mouthfeel was lovely and rich with some bitterness showing up in the end. This was an excellent stout and I am really hoping that this beer ends up in bottles as I can’t drive here every weekend for a fix.
