bierkoning (4691), La Tropica, Netherlands May 14, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown color. Malt and licorice in the aroma. Malty sweet flavor with licorice and warming alcohol. Tasty, but unrefined.
foodtraveller (26), Belgium Jun 14, 2008 Somewhat a beer pretending to be a trappist. Elements are there but it comes out mostly disjointed. Malt and licorice dominates. All in all not bad ... if only had more balance. Ober (276), Best, Netherlands Mar 14, 2008 A dark, almost black colored beer. It’s a little hazy. It has a beige foamy head. A malty aroma with dark fruits. The taste is some sweet, some bitter and also a little spicy. Some roasted malts. It’s in the style of a dark trappist. You don’t taste the 10% alc.
A good beer, of new and smal brewery Proefballon (2), Netherlands does not count Jan 18, 2008 (ook) dit bier smaakt raar , volgens mij is deze (ook) niet goed, raar gistsmaakje, volgens mij is het gistje niet helemaal fris, het zou prettig zijn al op het etiket zou staan wat er geexpirimenteerd is , de vorige was namelijk wel lekker, al met al wisselt dit bier sterk van smaak net als de andere van deze brouwerij.
jammer hoor de eerste was zo lekker wat een teleurstelling zeg,... bleh MoritzF (3690), Ruhrpott, Germany Jan 17, 2008 (33cl bottle) Hazy, ruby colour with a mid-sized, slowly lacing beige foamy head. Sweet and yeasty, moderately toasted malt aroma with dried fruits, mainly raisins and a phenolic spicy touch with light notes of alcohol. Sweet-bitter flavour, full bodied with a medium carbonation. Dark malt character, slightly toasted with moderate dried fruity elements and a tinge of caramel and chocolate in the background; medium-dry, toasty and almost vinous finish with a soft alcoholic burn. Pleasant.
