Korny (22), Quebec, Canada Aug 8, 2008 22/06/08 500ml Fraîche
Brune foncée aux reflets acajou orangés, col moyen.
Arômes de grains mouillés légèrement rôtis, bonbon.
Corps moyen, effervescence faible. Saveurs sucrées de pommes artificielles, caramel sucré et sucre d’orge...pas mal sucrée!! Plutôt du jus sucré que de la bière. blankboy (2687), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Mar 17, 2008 Bottle. Third beer of my ’St. Patrick’s Day Stouts & Porters Mini-Tasting’. Yeah, I know it’s labeled a ’Fruit Beer’ but it is supposed to be a Stout with apples so it counts. Stout with apples...weird. Pours a dark ruby-brown with a spare fast diminishing tan head. We’re not off to a good start, I like my Stouts to at least have a decent head. Aroma of roasted malt and apple juice which, unfortunately, is not an awesome combination. Flavour: Ugh, it’s worse. Like an apple cider gone bad. Or a cheap cider mixed 70% to a cheap Stout’s 30%. I keep trying it but I’m not liking it more. Marks for trying something new but not something I’d get again. GregClow (2369), Toronto, Ontario, Canada Feb 23, 2008 Bottle from Métro Joannette, Montreal. Dark ruby-brown with a very thin tan head. Aroma of dark roasted malt and fresh apple juice. Thin body, very carbonated. Flavour is essentially that of a mediocre stout mixed with a decent cider. Oddly, I kind of liked it at first, but halfway through, the flavours started to seriously clash, and down the drain in went. Weird stuff. Lubiere (3410), Ottawa, Ontario, Canada Dec 21, 2007 A dark reddish brown ale with a thin moka head. Aroma of musty dust, tobacco and apples. In mouth, an overly sweet stout, like mixing a Guinness with apple juice, sourish notes, leaving an unpleasant aftertaste. Overall, a bad idea. Bought at Joanette, 1.89$ rodenbach99 (472), Longueuil, Quebec, Canada Dec 8, 2007 bouteille brune de 341ml.
