Keg. Dublin (small pub) Oddly I’ve only recently started to like this drink. Looks similiar to Guinness and Beamish with a slightly yellower head. Tastes of burnt toast. In a nice way.

Dark pour with a beige-brownish head. Creamy in the mouth. Not quite as heavy as Guiness Stout but enjoyable in its own way. It’s also a tad cheaper.

Not sure if this is in the right beer because my can says murphy’s draft style stout pasteurized beer and it is in a brown and off white can. The pour is typical of these widget cans, simply beautiful and quite a show with it’s fireworks and all. Very little plain old beery aroma. Very dark, but not quite opaque. Has a head that is creamy off white foam. Taste is burned and slightly chocolaty with absolutely no carbonation at all. I am not a fan of these widget brews, just doesn’t really appeal to my palate. Finish is back of the throat slightly medium bitterness that hangs for a while. Will not purchase again. Tastes and feels like any other widget canned brew. The appearance saves this from being less than a 1 overall.

16oz. Nitro-can $6.49 4-Pack Sam’s Downers Grove Murphy’s Stout poured the perfect looking pint out of the nitro-can. Darkest of brown body bordering on black with mahogany highlights when held to the light. Delicious looking cascade on the pour that formed a 2 finger head that acted like meringue and never went away. Left big sticky lacing with each drink. Smell is mildly roasted malts with a touch of some dark roast in there. Mild floral aroma that’s pleasant along with the smallest amount of coffee bitterness. Flavor is much like the aroma. Mildly roasted malts go far in this beer along with a small and simple creaminess that becomes slightly sweet. Finishes with a lingering dark malt bitterness. The body is thick and sublimely creamy and smooth. Finishes dry and leaves a nice lingering bitterness. This is a good easy drinking stout. A stout you could easily sit down and enjoy a few at a time. Good beer for a good price. Murphy’s Irish Stout is definately a quality brew. One that I have passed on far too many times. I picked some up for St. Patty’s Day and I’m glad I did. A nice treat. 3/17/07

0.5L can. Deep dark brown, not completly opaque. Small head that lasts. Strong smokey aroma and some light roasted coffee. The palate is completly dry and bland, creating a sensation which is extremely unpleasant. A big dissapointment.

Black pour with moderate off-white head that lasts. Typical dry stout that is a bit smoother and definitely lighter than Guiness. Very smooth and creamy. Roasted coffee, light smoke, and some chocolate flavors. Nothing spectacular, but very drinkable and consistent. A pretty good stout, and a good value.

Its a Guinness dry stout just a tad lighter in the body, but with a big milky smooth texture and a bit more chocolate than smoke. Its has a better balance and its not that astringent. I agree... its better.
