Pours a very dark ruby, nearly black, nitro head. A bit straightforward, malt in the nose, hint of chocolate. Pasteurised nitro taste, toasted malts, burnt. Palate is greasy and thin. Slightly dry and gulpable. wcampbell (584), Central, South Carolina, USA

| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 4/10 | 4/5 | 10/20 | Mar 30, 2007 Very dark brown with a creamy head. Aroma slightly sweet and metallic. This was a bit too ’easy drinking’ for my taste. Creamy, oily mothfeel, a little chocolate and ash, but the general effect was watery and subdued. Good beginners’ stout. kramer (2527), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Mar 28, 2007 16 oz nitro can, via STEPHENDR. Pours a very dark brown, almost black, colored body under a very creamy beige head one inch in height. The nitrogenated head lasted forever. The aroma is pretty minimal, just some light roasted and burnt malt with some coffee, chalk, and a hint of caramel. Flavor is very thin with a lightly bitter and chalky roasted malt finish. Some grainy astringency also, but fairly light. Mouthfeel is smooth and silky as expected with the nitro can treatment. Typical nitrogenated carbonation. An OK beer, pretty light and basic, but appeals to me more than Guinness cause it’s a little less astringent. KM (238), Tromsø, Norway
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 27, 2007 Tap. Very similar to Guinness Draught. Black body, nice creamy head. Aroma of burned wood. Burned coffee flavour. Some smoke, hints of lemon and chocolate. Pleasant and well composed finished. (Farringtons Dublin, 18.03.07) AgentGobshite (25), peachland, British Columbia, Canada
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 10/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Mar 25, 2007 Finally got to drink one of the ’other’ Irish Stouts. Looks as beautiful as Guinness, which for me is as beautiful as it gets. Not so much in the nose, but what’s there is burnt, chocolate, and pleasant. And what a massive chocolate taste! Loved my first swig! Reminded me of a 90% Lindt chocolate bar, in liquid form, of course. Just like Guinness, that huge, roasted flavour leaves too fast, making me reach back for the mug. Better to leave ’em wanting more, i suppose.
