I remember tasting this in a side-by-side comparison with Guinness and Beamish. It had more taste than Guinness, which is more comparable to Coors Light than its own myth. Having just drunk a pint of this off tap, though, I’m can’t possibly see how I was right, unless, of course, Guinness is even worse than I thought. I’ve eaten paper with more flavor. If I was Irish, I would be embarrassed that this swill is capitalizing on my tradition and ruining my good name.

I have never had a bottle of beer with a widget before bought this some place in Washington State at a Gas Station. Impressive and without a doubt one of the best stouts I have had. I have also had this on tap in Ontario and in Paris, France and recently at the Gatwick airport on an 18 hour lay over. On tap. Pours almost black with a nice creamy off-white head. Tastes of lightly roasted coffee ending with vanilla. Low carbonation. Dry vanilla finish with a hint of sourness.

A nice Irish beer. Has a hoppy and malty aroma. Pours dark with a thick foamy head. Mouthfeel is smooth with a great after taste. Flavor is thick and malty.

Pours black as night with a beautiful frothy head. Flavor is slightly bitter with hints of roasted nuts and dry malts. Smooth and refined it finishes short and clean. Very drinkable and definitely worthy of consideration when talking about great stouts.

A nice thick creamy stout. I like the fine, creamy head and rich roasted malt flavors. Very little bitterness. Finish is nice and dry.

Nice dark brown color with full tan head. Chocolate coffee flavors and aroma, nice medium body. I prefer this to Guinness just slightly. It doesn’t seem to have quite as much bitterness to it as does the Guinness.

(50 cl can from Systembolaget) Labeled 4.0%. Dark brown almost black color, thick lasting creamy tan head. Chocolate and roasted scent. Roasted malt and coffee taste. also some metal and a bit acidic. High bitterness. Soft smooth, but thin, body. Bitter and coffee aftertaste. Very nice together with some chocolate on the side.
