A red beer with a light tan head. Complex taste of citrus, candy and fruit. hirigalzkar (550), Stockholm, Sweden Nov 27, 2008 Updated: Jan 19, 2009Bottle. Redbrown colour. Big head. Wonderful mild but complex aroma. Smells Citrus, candy, licorice. Fruity (!) flavor. Small bitterness in the aftertaste. NachlamSie (1630), Tennessee, USA Nov 27, 2008 [November 21, 2008]
750 mL bottle best before the end of 2010 poured into a 2 pint brandy snifter. N’Ice Chouffe is dark brown, near black in dim lighting. A pretty large head forms, but it’s not obscene. The aroma is spicy and sweet with hints of fruits, cardamom, clove, and licorice. The mouthfeel is medium with just enough carbonation. It’s sweeter than the nose let on, but it’s not overly sugary. Flavors of plums, licorice, and light spices abound while the alcohol stays in the background. I almost think quad as I drink this. This is another tasteful ale from the Chouffe line up. It’s pretty big, well balanced, and complex. Good stuff. PilsnerPeter (2585), Flushing, New York, USA Nov 27, 2008 Bottle Vintage 2006: Pours a rusty brown auburn with a thick/dense tan head. The aroma has some dark Belgian malt character of toasted hints and dark fruits- fig, plum, vanilla, some spiciness (both spice and yeasty character) and an anise suggestion. Fluffy/crisp carbonation in the palate. The flavor has rich Belgian dark malt character. Smooth with toasted toffee, plum, dried figs, grape notes, toasted coconut shavings, some nondescript spiciness, a succinct earthy/peat-like note and a warm toasted finish. A very nice and complex Belgian Strong. I really like this brewery. Travlr (699), Washington, Washington DC, USA Nov 26, 2008 Limited Edition 2007. dark red ruby brown with a scant white head. Candy aroma with faint caramel. Medium effervescent mouth. Malty flavor with spices. Very complex, my favorite Christmas ale during a 9-beer tasting of various Belgian Christmas ales. JayBaxter (386), Greater Manchester, Greater Manchester, England Nov 20, 2008 BrugsBierFestival - Dark brown beer with a thick creamy tan head. Lovely caramel, toffee and dark fruit aroma with similar smooth taste - cracking beer. daknole (2805), Plantation, Florida, USA Nov 20, 2008 Brown pour, tan head. Malty aromas of caramel, toffee, dark fruit and certainly molasses. Flavor follows suit with a great mouthfeel and flavors of spices, dried fruit, caramel and nice warming malt profile. cheers!
