(@ Kulminator; Antwerp, BE) Viper666 (614), Greenfield Park, Quebec, Canada May 18, 2008 Bouteille 750ml. Ober (1165), Bommelerwaard, Netherlands May 18, 2008 A very hazy, ruby/brown colored beer. It has a thick, light beige head. An aroma of raisins, caramel and sweet prunes. The taste has some spices, like pepper, with notes of dark fruits. Very rich taste overall. A warm feeling in your mouth, at the end. A very good beer. Gr0ve (1382), Oslo, Norway May 17, 2008 750 ml bottle. Dark reddish mahogany colour. Tall light beige fluffy head that clings to the glass. Crystal clear. High carbonation level. Light raisiny aroma with a hint of candi sugar. Some soapy aromas and the traditional Belgian yeast character. Münchener malt. Medium-bodied. A bit sugary, but there is quite a bit of malt here as well. Balanced. The alcohol can be noticed, but is well hidden. Hints of black pepper and sweet raspberries. Very drinkable given its strength. Nice. gary07734 (391), Tyne & Wear, England May 14, 2008 Updated: Dec 28, 2008On tap at The Wellington, Hull, UK, also from bottle.
Excellent beer, pours deep dark brown/black with a big tan head. Smell is good belgian yeast, hops, alcohol and spice. Taste is wonderful hops, dark spices, sweet raiseny fruits and a warming lightly alcoholic finish. Even better on tap.
Dangerously drinkable, great xmas beer! LinusStick (1831), Moon Twp, suburb of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA May 3, 2008 A great Belgian strong and the best I’ve had from this brewer. Aroma was just so so. Earth, spice and dark fruit. Pour was a nice dark amber/light brown with a good bit of sediment. Taste was very good. Strong berry and spice with a nice spicy aftertaste. I would never guess this was 10% Very nice carbonation. As the beer warms, more fruit flavor comes out. White grape and pear mostly. Very complex and delicious. radagast83 (1273), Fairfax, Virginia, USA Apr 29, 2008 750 ml bottle, 2005 bottle drunk April 2008. Pours a brown color with a small tan head. Aroma is alcohol, spices, pines, earth, and something akin to sweet sugar candy. Flavor is about the same, brown sugars dominate, caramel, spice, and malt with notes of cherries.
