i’ve tasted the beer by 10 degrees emerica56 (575), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Jan 22, 2008 I like how this looks it has a dark yet somewhat clear nut brown, and light orange color with a thick tan and light brown head. It also leaves some streaks and small head spots on the sides of the glass. the aroma is very earthy and full of some light fruits and traces of hops. as it warms up and i take a sip there is a initial creamy texture with some light fruits to accent it. The more i sip on it the fruits fade out and it gets a bit earthy but that creamyness never goes away which is really nice. Drink4Satan (585), Bristol, Rhode Island, USA Jan 22, 2008 Pours an orange-hued murky brown with a rocky head that fades to a thin cap, leaving minimal lacing. The aroma is fruity and herbal, with some notes of oxidation and wild-smelling yeast. Candy sugar us also present in the aroma. The flavour displays a perfect balance of hops and candy malts in an easily quaffable strong ale. The flavours present include mint, orange peel, peppery spice, grahm cracker, and berry, with a dry, clean, perfectly bitter hop finish. Nice soft, yet tingly carbonation and velvety mouthfeel. TopherDrinks (96), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA Jan 18, 2008 Pours a dark brown with dark red highlights. An off-white head is quick to form and lingers for quite some time leaving moderate lacing. Aromas of dark fruits, freshly pulverized mint leaves, spicy yeast, suggestions of candy malt, and hints of funk. Taste is equally complex with dark fruits, berries, yeast, pepper corn, mint, sweet breads, candy sugar, piney hops, and a some slight earthy notes all mixed together in equal parts. Carbonation is full and lively yet the alcohol is non-existent. The finish is short and dry, leaving your mouth freshly spiced with mint and peppercorn. The first Winter brew I’ve thoroughly enjoyed all year. gunnfryd (3539), Kristiansand, Norway Jan 17, 2008 Bottle. Dark brown colour with a beige head. Aroma is sweet, apple, dried fruits. Flavour is sweet, apple, caramel, alcohol, spices. Nice beer. Could drink more of this one. ElGaucho56 (386), USA Jan 17, 2008 Draft @ BSP. mmmm....poured a near opaque brown-black with decent dense beige head. Nose is fruity, yeasty, perfumy, with lavender coming to mind. Equally complex on the palate, with initial plummy sweetness melding with winter spices towards a delicate, flowery finish. A very nice Belgian winter brew. ajm (902), Los Angeles, California, USA Jan 12, 2008 This is great, great stuff. Easily the smoothest beer I’ve ever had above 7% (it’s 10%) and one of the smoothest ever. Plums, raisins, and a very enchanting honey quality make this like a thick mead. Very rich and extremely subtle, the opening, mid-palatte and finish are very synonymous. Jerre (1755), Waregem, Belgium Jan 12, 2008 Bottle, 75 cl. (ytasted with Marc en Leen)
Dark brown (reddisch shine) with good lasting off-white head.
