Bottle(2006) from Whole Foods. Dark maroon color upon pouring. Sweet dark fruity aroma. Some raisin and fig. Fruity sweet flavor. Some yeastiness. Some roasted malty goodness as well. Good quality winter brew. Alcohol is only slightly noticeable.

This is the beer for winter! Full bodied and creamy, dark red-brown colored one with some delicious sediment in the body, a creamy tan head. Fruity and fine spicy-herbal thyme in the aroma, toasted grains. Complex body, fruity flavor with the herbal thyma again.

"06 bottle. Pours mahogany with a small bubbly tan head. Pleasant, although light, aroma of orange zest, a bit of raisin, just a hint of alcohol, and an earthy/spicy overtone. Flavor is much richer and maltier than expected. A bit of creamy milk chocolate right up front that leads into raisin and candied plum notes, as well as just a hint of blackberries. Just enough earthy spices throughout, and a very nice undertone of orange juice/zest and dark candy sugar make a fairly strong appearance towards the finish. Palate is full, creamy, a bit spicy, and just a little alcoholic. Well balanced and unique, kind of reminds me of fantome de noel, only much better.

One of my favorite beers of all time. 750 ml bottle from BevMo Carmel mtn. Pours a very deep chocolate brown, Light lacing. Nose of dried dark fruits, such as plums, raisens.....maybe fig? As the beer sat it picked up more intense flavors of peach, apricot and some hops.

Pours a nice dark chestnut brown with a frothy head with a slight beige tint. Aroma consists of hints of maltiness, spices and thyme with citrus undertones. Very cmplex taste consisting of plum and dark berries, chocolate malt, sugar cane, balanced out by a nice spiciness and slightly dry hopped finish. Very tasty.

750 ml. "2006" bottle which unfortunately gushed upon opening. Dark brown pour with a quickly fading beige head. Bready and cakey malt aroma with nutmeg, cinnamon, vanilla and a bit of chocolate. Some yeast and alcohol wafting up now and then. Flavor of spiced cake, with an underlying raisiny tanginess at first, which settles into a warming caramel character with notes of vanilla, candied peel, baking spices and a touch of pepper at the end. Pretty good Xmas brew. Cool painted bottle.

Fad.
