2006- Pours dark brownish amber w/ a full, semi creamy froth. Aroma of dark belgian rock candy. Medium nectar w/ mellow residual effers creates a soft creamy texture. Sweet yet refined and balanced. Flavors of dried fruit rollup w/ spices. Cherry, plumb, cocoa, melon, moscato grapes, bubblegum dust, bark, molases, The finish is finely bittered just enough to allow the moderate sweetness to linger. Not cloying. No medicine or cherry caughdrop. Very pleasant. Highly recommended.

Cloudy brown with a thick off-white head. Raisins, grapes, and spice make up the aroma. Light but creamy mouthfeel. Sweet wine, banana, spice, and caramel malt dominate the palate. Orange peel, hops, and alcohol bring up the rear and stay with you. Good balance, good beer.

Clear amber body with off-white head. The aroma is vinous, herbal and floral, but relatively light. The flavor is banana, spice, clove and caramel. Medium/light body with soft/tight carbonatiomn.

Based on the ratings here I was very interested in tasting this beer. For me it was way to "sweet" with an aftertaste of plums and raisins that stayed with me long after I was done drinking. The appearance was a nice dark brown with a nice head, and the fragrance was beautiful. I just couldn’t get past the very fruity and sweet aftertaste.

Limited edition 2005; BB 2010. Pours a murky burgandy color with notable effervescents; head is beige, mostly full, and creamy/frothy with a fairly small amount sticking around and leaving nice tight Belgain lace. Nose is great; rich caramel and brown sugar-esque malts with some currant, orange peel, and a little floral with clove and yeast to back. Flavor is similar, rich caramel/chocolate malts, cinnamon, raisins, orange peel, some undefinable spiciness, and the thyme really makes for a earthy/floral flavor coming around towards the end. Palate is full, moderate carbonation, and silky, almost round. Finishes long and sweet initially with raisin and chocolate, but dries out slightly leaving more bitterness with the thyme (earthy/floral) and orange peel note. My favorite Christmas Belgain and up there with some of the other really good Belgians. The spicing is unique and really make the beer enjoyable. Like no other (a Belgain thing, apparently) and certainly something I will revisit when the next Christmas rolls around.

750 ml bottle. Lot’s of fruity and spicy aromas off this brown pour with a decent tan head. Flavors were more dried fruit with a nice background of spice. Very nice winter offering.

On tap at the Map Room. Pours dark brown with amber hues and a beige head. Dark fruits and spices lead way to an earthy finish.
