1996: Pour is dark amber with a tight bubbled tan head...smell is warm and malty and spicy with lots of corriander or clove...taste was nice and sweet with lots of fruit...alcohol still apparent, but slightly oxidized...

On tap at The Kulminator, Antwerp. First beer here on the Friday (came back the following day) and whilst I was wading through the beer list, I had a draught beer just to keep me going. Deep copper/amber colour with lasting beige head. Choc/coffee and dark fruit aroma. But also quite fresh. Some spice and heat in mouth, slightly raisiny on end. Slight rubber on finish too.

Light brown color with a huge off-white head that lasts and lasts. Excellent lacing throughout. Hazy body with small floaties. Moderately malty aroma with light bread notes along with apple and allspice notes. Moderately sweet flavor from start to finish with more hints of apple and spice. Full bodied with fairly soft carbonation. Delicious.

Bottle shared with blankboy, HogTownHarry & tupalev - courtesy of blankboy. Hazy mahogany colour with a medium tan head. Aroma is big and spicey - nutmeg, ginger, cinnamon - with notes of tart orange rind and yeast. Flavour is robust and complex - we really should’ve had this one earlier in the night, as my palate was on its last legs by this point, and I found it tough to pull flavours out of the mix. It was just big and spicey and warm, and really good.

First rating.
Draught at The Rover in Gothenburg Sweden, January 6, 2006.
Very nice dark red color and a nice head. Spicy and a bit alcoholi in scent and taste. Nice to warm you up when it’s cold outside.

Some Belgian yeast smell, strawberry yogurt and sweet cherry smell. Sugary. Shady red color, tan head. Lots of marzipan and alcohol taste. Too sweet palate. Just too much sugar.

Bottled 0,75L at Oberon (Ospitaletto).
Creamy and adherent head, good persistence. Dark reddish color tending to the brown; Enough dark and with a good fizz. Alcoholic and complex aroma; enough winy with overbearing alcoholic notes. Medium pungent taste, dense and liquory. Nicely flowery and spiced but is too much top heavy.

Bottle shared with HogTownHarry, GregClow & tupalev -- my bottle. Pours a hazy reddish-brown with a good size off-white head. Sweet, sugary aroma of malt, spices and alcohol. Complex flavour of sweet malt, spices, alcohol, brown sugar, citrus and herbs (thyme and the like). Full bodied. Wow, this is a great beer and a pleasant surprise -- fantastic!

Shared with blankboy, gregclow, and hogtown harry, thanks for the bottle blankboy. Dark brown, medium bubbly off white/orange head, looks nice. Alcohol, spice, sweet aroma. Wonderful taste! Lots of spice, lots of malt, some alcohol. Full bodied for the style, yet balanced with a perfect amount of carbonation. A near perfect taste for the style. Bloody lovely.
