Ungstrup (10824), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 29, 2007 [To celebrate my rating number 8700 I drink the presently 10th highest rated beer] Bottled. A pitch black with a fast disappearing brown head. The aroma is sweet with notes of malt, alcohol, soy sauce, coffee and chocolate, the alcohol stings in the nose. The flavor is powerful and quite sweet with notes of roasted malt, alcohol, chocolate, coffee, and prunes, leading to a thick finish with a hint of alcohol, which burns slightly in the throat. omhper (10140), Stockholm, Sweden May 17, 2007 Updated: Jul 1, 2007Bottled at Københavnske Øldage. Black!! Intense aroma of plum brandy and licorice. Sweet and extremely full bodied. Syrupy, but tar and licorice dominates. Thick and chewy, mature madeira flavours. Long tarry very bitter finish. Has great potential for aging - can become something really outstanding. As of now it is still young, sweet and a bit sugary, which detracts from the very interesting flavour. Papsoe (9663), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jul 9, 2007 Updated: Sep 9, 2007(Bottle 50 cl) Courtesy of Myrup. Pours completely opaque black with a dense, light brown head. Aroma of burned malt and alcohol. Very full-bodied with plenty of roasted malt and coffee accents. Very sweet fruit notes and then an overpowering, burning alcohol - way too alcoholic. I wonder if this would improve some with cellaring - perhaps making it more subtle and mellow. 080707 and 070907 joergen (6141), Frederiksberg, Denmark May 11, 2007 Bottle, thanks to sk8viking for sharing.
