apoptosis (1316), Long Island, New York, USA Dec 23, 2007 Slightly hazy beer, with a dark reddish-brown color and a nice-looking frothy off-white head. Heavily malted aroma - a strong wet woodiness as well. Not a sweet beer at all. It is quite nutty, as the CD states, and it is an interesting beer overall. Of course, I wish my Christmas beer was stronger, though.
espenra (97), Oslo, Norway Aug 2, 2008 50cl bottle from Centra. The bottle had no batch, best before or brew-date. It poured a black colour with medium carbonation and a light-brown head that settles down fast in the glass. It has a spicy aroma that also smells heavily of coffee and dark caramel. The flavour is slighlt bitter and tastes of coffee, roasted malt, dark chocolate. It has a lingering aftertaste. Kalli (404), Falun, Sweden Aug 1, 2008 Reddish black with little foam. Roasted aroma with smoked meat.
Little to the flavour or palate but a smokiness on the finish along with minty hops. Ethereal (869), London, Greater London, England Jul 2, 2008 Bottle at Chris_O’s 19th April 2008 tasting. Pours mahogany with some carbonation. Malty on the nose, but smelt rather stale. Unfortunately, the watery, overly fizzy palate kills the flavours. Not up to their usual standards. Mes_and_Sim (4176), London, Greater London, England Apr 30, 2008 A Mes rate: bottle at Chris_O’s Ha Ha Ha Ha Gimme the Cheese Tasting. Attractive bright red amber colour with a bubbly head. Rich chocolate malt and spicy Christmas cake aroma. Good hops, tobacco and rich malt flavour. Seriously over carbed. The palate really kills it. thewolf (3490), Kolding, Denmark Apr 9, 2008 Bottle, bought @ Ølbutikken, Cph.
Pours deep brown with a medium, creamy, yellow-beige head. Aroma has nuts, sweet chocolate, some fruity hops. Mouthfeel is rather light. Flavour is mild, some chocolate, lightly roasted. Some slight dryness at the end. Well, this is an okay beer, but certainly affected by only having 4,5 %
