Commercial Description:
An authentic Porter at 6% ABV. The name refers to this being the second Nordic guest brew, that is developed together with Lasse Ericsson from Nynäshamn Ångbryggeri, south of Stockholm. The beer is top fermented and added honey before the fermentation, which results in a soft and creamy coffee black porter with a soft aroma of chocolate, coffee, and nuts. The flavor is dry, light, and elegant with notes of liquorice and dried fruits. The bitterness is low and the harmonious aftertaste is dominated by liquorice.

I was a little disappointed by this rather pricey brew. It was not overly roasty, and it had a slightly unpleasant earthy mustiness that I couldn’t quite place but that I really didn’t like. This beer was not as dark as I expected, and it was a black tea brown that was somewhat translucent. Head was present, but not especially notable. Aroma was some roastiness, liquorice, and lots of graininess/cereal and mustiness/earthiness that I did not especially care for. Flavor was more mild than aroma, but was decent with a remote unpleasantness to it. Mouthfeel was unremarkable. I can’t say I’d particularly recommend this beer. There are just a ton of American porters that are better and cheaper than this.

The aroma starts with dark fruit, some alcohol, sharp soapy scrubbed metal and finishes with an old dusty aroma. The body is black and holds a quite lasting finger sized mocha head. The fore is thin cocoa, chocolate, roast bitterness, caramelized roasted malt and segues into dusty spent honey. Kinda bleh.

(USA) Shared by the owner of capone’s, thanks matt. Pours a very dark brown almost black with a sm-tan head. The aroma has a roasted malt, chocolate and some black licorice notes.Taste is smooth and much of the same with the addition of coffee. WOW, This is very good stuff !!!

Bottle shared by Matt at Capones. Very dark brown in color with a dense foamy head. Smells of raisins, chocolate, and general roastedness. Tastes the same as it smells but much more intense. Big and rich, yet very smooth. I need to buy a bottle of this and use it to make a chocolate cake. Wonderful.

The honey and licorice that are described on the label are pretty confrontational, but if you’re up for the ride, then this is a unique beer that deserves your attention--not to mention the fatct that it comes in an awesome bottle.
