SamuraiArtist (292), portland, Oregon, USA Nov 1, 2007 Bottle: Pours very dark but with lots of clear red highlights and a thin tan head. Aroma is a little odd of roasted malts chocolate and some acidity. Flavor thankfully doesnt have the acidity, light maltiness with moderate roasted grainy flavors, light coffee and chocolate flavors, dry and slightly nutty. Very dry and light nutty finish. Body is a bit thin. A very average beer. Not bad but definitely not worth the $12 i paid for it.
nearbeer (1199), Knoxville, Tennessee, USA Aug 20, 2008 60 cl. Opaque black with a two-finger head that settles to a a lasting disc of cream. Soapy, swiss cheese lacing all over the glass. Cocoa, coffee, caramel and slight anise in the aroma. Smooth flavor blend of all the same elements, plus some charred hickory wood, raisin, dried peaches and cherry. Medium body is soft and smooth with light carbonation and a little hop tingle. Nicely balanced between sticky and watery, and has a slightly chalky, roasted finish that drys the big malts well. Very pricey, but damn good. stouby (1444), Holbaek, Denmark Aug 16, 2008 Bottle at home.
Dark brown with a beige ehad. Aroma moderate malty (licorice, coffee, chocolate, roasted), light hoppy. Flavor moderate sweet and bitter/sour. Medium body. BeerBiker (1159), Odense, Denmark Aug 16, 2008 [Sampled at DØE-festival with Helga, Søren and Anne, Århus 2008.] I must just mention, that this is a very great porter, maybe not that challenging, but I felt it just so wellquencing, smooth and wellbalanced, that it for me could be a beach-summer-porter. Where can I buy it? hellbilly (837), scottsdale über alles, Arizona, USA Aug 13, 2008 BB 6/19/8... pours a dark garnet brown with a frothy tan head. the aroma is full of creamy chocolate and spent coffee grounds along with some light ash, black raisins, caramel and fruity sweetness. there’s a light ash/astringency in the flavor as well as chocolate, a light floral hoppy quality and wood with a slightly sour spicy finish. sour brewed coffee flavor in the aftertaste with a touch of milky chocolate. medium body with a slick creamy mouth feel from the carbonation. tasty but quite expensive... Retorp (2154), Tampa, Florida, USA Jul 18, 2008 The aroma starts with dark fruit, some alcohol, sharp soapy scrubbed metal and finishes with an old dusty aroma. The body is black and holds a quite lasting finger sized mocha head. The fore is thin cocoa, chocolate, roast bitterness, caramelized roasted malt and segues into dusty spent honey. Kinda bleh.
