Sampled on 10/9/2009. This imperial porter pours a deep brown color with nice ruby highlights from a 22oz bottle. Medium to small sized beige foamy head. The aroma is chocolate and coffee, with a touch of vanilla. A medium bodied Imperial Porter. The malts are chocolate and coffee. The hops are earthy and floral. Nice chocolate, touch of coffee and vanilla. Mouthfeel is full and round. The finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

Bottle thanks to bhensonb: Pours a transparent dark mahogany ruby with a thin ring of dark tan head. Aroma of sweet toasty dark caramel with a hint of smoke and roasted malt along with some raisins. Starts with good dark caramel malty and toffee sweetness and a touch of earthy hop bitterness before a warming slightly astringent finish. Has some decent light complexity but could use more balance.

Bottle sampled at the DC Local tasting. Slighty watery, opaque black with a spitty, sudsy slightly off white head. Aroma is fairly mild, citrus, orange, milk chocolate, some light smoke. Flavor is a bit peaty, brown sugar, molasses, sweet caramel. Not bad.

pours a slighty thin looking brown with a nice brown head that fades quick but leaves good lacing. nose is pleasent with lots of dark chocolate and roasty bitterness coming through, a hop waft comes through as well. flavor is roasy, toasy malts with some licorice and cocoa nibs, and a some good hop bitterness with a tiny hint of alcohol in back. mouthfeel is nice and creamy in front with some carb in back. def their best offering.
