Commercial Description:
Napa Smith Wheat beer has a light and clean taste that is characteristic of this type of style. We have added special ingredients to accentuate the aromas beyond the hops and malt to insure a spicy, floral aroma with a light crisp finish. Serve this with a grilled piece of fresh fish or pork chops.

Pours crystal clear with a thin white head. I won’t sugarcoat it. It looks like piss. I’m not sure what it smells like. There was a bit of bottle stink, which is understandable because it had to travel all the way from Napa to San Francisco. I’m almost afraid to take a drink, but here goes... Wow. That tastes like nothing. I seem to have gotten a bottle of stinky yellow seltzer water. I guess it could be worse.

Wow, what a lot of butter in this aroma. The flavor has some butter as well with a hint of wheat and a very buttery finish. I’m hoping that my bottle was tainted since I found this highly undrinkable.

Bomber poured a hazy gold with a small disapating off white head. Aromas of wheat, light straw, light honey and a hint of fruittiness. Palate was light bodied and crisp with a smooth lightly dry finish. Flavors of wheat, spice and a hint of honey with a smooth lightly dry bread like finish.

From a 22 oz bottle this poured a hazy yellow with a nice fat white head and good lacing. Nose is citrus, banana, and a hint of clove. Mouthfeel is smooth and refreshing. Flavor is malty, with citrus and light ripe finish is dry and floral. Very easy to drink beer and quite refreshing.

22oz bomber, no date from Bottle Barn. Clear gold with a one and a half finger white head, good retention. Aroma of lemon, light banana, and light white pepper. Flavor is kinda lemony with a little bit of pepper. The finish is semi-dry, bitterness about a 2. Low carbonation with a light body. Doesn’t seem much like an American wheat beer to me, but still isn’t too bad. Kinda saison-ish.

Sampled on 3/30/2009. This wheat ale pours a medium orange gold color from a 22oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head, with decent retention and good lacing. The aroma is cereal and grainy with a touch of sweet esters. A medium bodied wheat ale. The malts are cereal and grainy, some bubble gum and only a touch of banana and clove ester so it’s more of a wheat ale than a Hefe. The hops are floral and spicy. Good carbonation. Nice balance. I am not one for wheat ales, but this one is very nice. A very clean and smooth tasting beer. Mouthfeel is full and round. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.
