fiulijn (7150), Como; Lausanne (CH); Malmö (SWE), Italy Aug 1, 2009 At De Heeren Van Liedekercke, bottle from 1990, 25 years old Dark amber color, small persistent head. Caramel aroma and flavor, candi sugar, lightly oxidized, the aroma is less affected by age than the flavor; there is still some apple, mellow, fruity aroma; the final is lightly metallic. No bitterness. Still interesting. Madsnp (607), Odense C, Denmark Jul 14, 2009 Bottle at DHVL. Pours dark brown coloured with almost no head. Clear medium brown color with a average, fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white to white head. Aroma is moderate malty, caramel, chocolate, vintage malt, prune. [20081212] Papsoe (14613), Frederiksberg, Denmark Jun 5, 2005 (Bottle 25 cl) For some reason I had expected a pilsener in here (must have overlooked the acohol...), but nothing could be further from the truth. Guess this is what the Belgians would call a "double dark", a rich, dark, malty beer with a strong alcohol. Very complex beer with notes of dessert-wine and dried fruits + notes of both chocolate and anise. Lightly bitter finish. Yet another hidden Belgian gem. 020897 jbrus (4835), Delft, Netherlands Apr 24, 2005 Bottled. Wow! Aged for 6 years. Bought it at Holemans in Aarschot, Belgium. Great aroma of port, prune, plum and raisin. Brown color, hazy, debris floating around, brown head, fair lace. Very strong flavors. Again prune, plum, raisin, sweet, bitter. Is this beer still brewed? lachesis (759), St Idesbald, Belgium Jul 12, 2004 Great intens brown beer with a very small froth.Rich aroma’s of caramel, chacolate, fine malts and buttercakes.Round and smooth taste with hints of honeypops, ahorn sirop, malts and a little hint of fresh peach. In the afthertaste there is a noble touch of fine hops.Great stuff, this beer.
